  1. Hello fairy1, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. Please ask away our forum members love to share their knowledge, there is no such thing as a stupid question, but be afraid of some of the answers you might get. Please let us know a little about yourselves and your times on the canals. Have a look in our information sections by clicking on forums and look down the various sections, there are some good links to the Richardson's website to their instruction video's that may help you. Regards Alan
  2. Hello Chris, Welcome back to the NBN forum. Regards Alan & Tan
  3. Hello Strowager, Good to see you posting again. Regards Alan
  4. Hello David, Thank you for the information on these webcams, I have included them in our information pages; under other webcams. Regards Alan
  5. We all have our own opinions which of course we are entitled, debate is good but going back to the old drum banging does not help anyone. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Graham, Looks a tidy boat. Yes more fenders, I would also be inclined to fit one of those dock fenders onto that post or posts. http://www.compassmarine.co.uk/PBSCCatalog.asp?CatID=1426594 Regards Alan
  7. Hello Iain, This site is in our information pages as one of the boat search sites. It does however have loads on information on there including a route planner. Regards Alan
  8. Hi Steve, What happened to the company that had some blocks? As you say brazing can be done correctly but in many cases there can be distortion of the blocks because of the heat, the result of this can be that cylinder head gaskets tend to leak. If you have an option of who does the brazing take it to a good engineering company that can skim the blocks if they need it. Regards Alan
  9. Hello Dennismate, Welcome to the NBN forum. Our boat syndicate has always had its change over days on Tuesdays since 2001, different start days on hire craft has been in effect for a few years now it helps spread the workload on some of the larger hire companies. For us it means that we get a full weekend, we only encounter dayboats on that weekend instead of two, the roads are less busy for our journey down to the Broads. For us its a win win situation. Please let us know a bit about yourself and what you hired this year and what boat you are hiring for 2016. Regards Alan
  10. Hello Trapper, Welcome to NBN forum and your first post. Regards Alan & Tan
  11. I have edited the fuel list in our information pages, this was just the date on Goodchilds, the £1.13 has been at that level since July so they are hardly competitive this time around. Regards Alan
  12. Hi Martin, It is all down to how you wire it and what latching circuits you have. Regards Alan
  13. Hi Martin, Going by your description it sounds as if you would be better off using a push button to activate a relay. Maybe if you let us in on what you are trying to do we may be able to come up with some options. Regards Alan
  14. Hello Graham & Ana, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. What type of boat have you bought? and where are you thinking of mooring? Sorry but we are a nosey set on this forum. Regards Alan
  15. Hi Johnnie, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. Please if you have dates for your sets, let me have them or post them into our information sections, such as what's happening on the Broads or in events. Regards Alan
  16. Hello Monica, Please keep up, a FE is a blunt object placed to catch out the unwary (a fire extinguisher) . Regards Alan
  17. Hello Monica, Your tale of your mother in her care home reminded me so much of the Monty Python sketch of the "Hells Grannies". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ygy7UDADXDg Regards Alan
  18. Hi Iain, It would seem the tin opener did a better job and was better located than the boats head opener Regards Alan
  19. Hi Mark, I think Robin's remark re the tin opener was very much tongue in cheek. To be honest after the video of him opening a can without one he ought to wear one on a chain around his neck Regards Alan
  20. After years of holiday rentals finding even a well supplied kitchen somewhat lacking, we still take at least one sharp knife, a small frying pan wooden spoon & spatula. Most of the cooks knifes we have encountered would suit better as spoons. We were in a kitchen shop in Kingsbridge (Devon) looking at various kitchen aids and some knifes were on offer, these may have been ok after a lot of sharpening, I mentioned to the assistant that we normally bring a sharp knife with us on holiday, you should have seen the look on the woman's face when Tan pulled it out of her handbag as if on queue. I am not sure if there are wanted posters of us in the South Hams. Regards Alan
  21. Sorry to hear of that Iain, you certainly have been through the wars lately. Regards Alan
  22. Hello Doug, Many thanks for the heads up. That is covering rather a lot of the river ? Regards Alan
  23. Hello Simon, I am enjoying your holiday tales, you were on the Broads during some of time we were aboard Ranworth Breeze (30th August - 8th September) sadly because of training commitments and showing potential new owners around the boat we could not venture to Oulton Broard & Beccles. Like yourselves we have only stopped at The Bell at St Olaves once (up to now) because of the tide, light and a clearance of 2 inches on the bridge we moored up after going through the bridge. The current at these moorings can catch a number of people out, it is very strong and very close to the bridge. Waiting to your next installment. Regards Alan
  24. The NBN burgee makes an ideal height gauge. Regards Alan
  25. Hello Woodsafloat, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. Please check out the following link to our information pages with regards to the current fuel prices and locations on the Broads. Regards Alan
