  1. I still believe that there is insufficient bridge height boards when traveling from the Northern Rivers through Great Yarmouth, the boards that are there have only good markings at the higher levels on the boards, any boat that needs an high air draft struggles to see any marking on the lower levels on the height boards. After saying all of the above other than allowing for additional water in the system passage through the Yarmouth Bridges should be calculated from the tide tables and the height of low water. We certainly have to do the calculations on every planned journey through Yarmouth. Looking at the pictures of the boat stuck and those white painted boards I believe that the posted high water levels may now be up to 100mm less than they were? Regards Alan
  2. Hi Jill, You must have picked one of the few days of summer for the top two pictures and I love the sunset. Regards Alan
  3. SOB is hardly fit for purpose if it can not get under the bridges at Great Yarmouth, we can get under with the correct tides. Regards Alan
  4. Hi Jane, It sounds just like going through Manchester, by far the worst city we have been through, they even mention on the Nicholson guides not to risk stopping through Manchester let alone spending the night moored up. Regards Alan
  5. I doubt that Griff would have managed to helm that boat in reverse through Wroxham Bridge Regards Alan
  6. Hi Sue, You may or may not make use of them out of season, remember the Yacht Station closes early in the later part of the season so if you have late November or early December allocation you may be out of luck. Regards Alan
  7. Hi Iain, Don't you mean "Boots", I bet Grace has the odd cuboard full of said boots Regards Alan
  8. Hi Jon, I see you are quite active on "I Love the Broads" Regards Alan
  9. Hi Lori, The yellow bucket springs to mind, at least it would match the colour of the boat Regards Alan
  10. Hi Iain, Cheap at half the price Well done. Regards Alan
  11. Hi Iain, The systems are usually Red Care that offer monitoring services be they on dedicated phone lines with or without wireless connections. These used to be three false callouts and Police support and attendance was withdrawn. Regards Alan
  12. In most cases yes you can add more RAM, but it has to be the same type that is already fitted or you may get problems, rebooting memory mismatch errors and such like. Regards Alan
  13. Just registered and left a comment of objection. Regards Alan
  14. Hi Neil, I thought it might have been you, I bet you were wondering at the time was do I touch the shore power hook up or not. I am not sure of your insulation properties of your makeshift waders? Regards Alan
  15. Hi Alan, Teleflex as you know is a good name in the industry (same make as the Morse control I sold you) you just need to check that the system you feature in your video is suitable to your outdrive, I assume that that your outdrive has linkages inside the hull for steering and tilt? Regards Alan
  16. Hi Alan, Flooding to the path is common at Beccles Yacht Station, one of the forum members reported late last year or early season this year that they had to wade to untie their ropes. Regards Alan
  17. Hi Linbury1, We welcome all new members, like yourself I am a member of other forums but made the friendly NBN my home. Regards Alan
  18. Lowestoft seemed to be hit by the worst by flooding in Aldwych Way. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/flooding_crashes_and_power_cuts_as_region_suffers_a_month_s_worth_of_rain_in_one_day_1_4168162 Regards Alan
  19. Call me fickle (I have been called far worse) there has been a lot of talk about using the services of the Post Office, these of course have also been closed down or as already mentioned part of stores (I know of one that is in a café) etc. It would seen that customer service has gone out of the window. Personally:- I do not want to use self service tills I only use cash machines if desperate If I have a meal I want it on a plate not in a cardboard box (the only exception is fish & chips and then it needs to be in paper) If I go into any shop I expect the staff to know about the stock they sell rather than me having to inform them what it is, what its for and what it should really cost. Car parks where the only means of paying is via credit/debit card or a mobile after of course putting in your registration number. The issue with closing down any branch outlets be they Banks, Post Offices, Building Societies, Insurance Companies and offer the staff relocation eventually there will be no where for them to go. Regards Alan
  20. Hello Rob, Welcome again to the forum. What was your original login name and when were you last on the forum? Regards Alan
  21. Hi Iain, Agreed not good news, I read somewhere that the Nat West bank is also closing their branch. Banks I feel have lost the plot, there are not longer there to provide a service to their customers. I personally would no longer trust any bank and I closely scrutinise any account that I am involved in. Regards Alan
  22. Hi Iain, That I feel is good information for Andrew. Regards Alan
  23. Hi Ray, I am not sure if I love or hate that Marmite EBay advert Regards Alan
  24. I have recieved a facebook message from someone this morning saying that a car has run into a boat. By all accounts it was seen on the Barnes Brinkcraft webcam. Better that than running into the river I suppose. Does anyone know anything about this story. Regards Alan
