  1. Sorry to hear that John, computers great when working but can be very unforgiving. I look forward to your post when you have amassed all of your information. Regards Alan
  2. Hello Hylander, I have put a link in the website links section to this site, there is updated news in the news section on the website. Regards Alan
  3. Hi Fred, I would have thought you would have one in your kit to put next to your jar of marmite!! I would have put a cheeky smiley but they are not working again on my PC. Regards Alan
  4. Hello Choco, Welcome to the forum from Tan and myself, we are friendly and easy going forum. Please let us know if you are visiting the Northern or Southern Broads and where you are hiring from and the boat name, it will help to give you advice if it is indeed needed. Have a good holiday and please let us know how you get on. Regards Alan
  5. It would appear that the Mudford lock and lifting bridges are now back in operation after the fault earlier in the week. Regards Alan
  6. I have just been on the Oulton Broad webcam, there is a yacht race currently being held there. Have a look on the webcams link. Regards Alan
  7. Hello Robin, Mystic Horizon is a fair looking boat and is ideally suited for the Southern Rivers you will be able to see better over the reeds with that higher steering position. If you have never been up the Chet up to Loddon you have missed a treat it is well worth the visit the hours journey up to Loddon (not so good in a storm and being wet through). So many places here for you to eat, you could stop there all week and have meals in the four pubs, café, tearooms and takeaways that are in this small village. The staithe provides good moorings for around 10-12 boats, there was only one electric post, but this has been increased to three (I have not heard if these additional posts have been rectified yet, they installed them with the card readers facing the water?)so plenty of power for you assuming the boat has a shore power hook up, or do you have your own setup? The trip above Brammerton is good but watch out for those scullers, they take up a lot of river but are great to see. We have been all the way into Norwich and you can turn the boat just beyond the Yacht Station, although in the pictures it looks great with the tree lined road but it is very noisy so we have never stopped the night and have usually gone back to Brammerton. Have a good trip and I look forward to your blogs. Regards Alan
  8. Hello Jill, Reclamation these days is big business, there are also TV programmes on the subject. I like to wander around shops like these, antique and old fashioned hardware/tool shops, much to Tan's and my children's distain. Regards Alan
  9. Hello Ebbtide, Welcome to the forum from Tan & myself. As you say it is a pity that the commercial craft are no longer seen on the rivers. If you have been following the blog that John (Hockham Admiral) has posted above his current holiday in Holland, most European countries have a better policy with regards to using commercial craft. Regards Alan
  10. Hello John & Mary-Jane, Myself and many forum members have been enjoying your holiday with you. A few are even thinking about following your example. Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into these blogs. Regards Alan
  11. Hello Robin, A very good post and I totally agree with you. Regards Alan
  12. Hi Mick, Very good cameras. My camera has many visits to the Broads but rarely gets used, usually there is only Tan and myself on the boat so I don't get chance to use it. It is a Nikon D40. I still have my Canon A1 that I bought from the States in the early 70's but I use that even less. Regards Alan
  13. Hello Mick, The picture is very good, what camera are you using? Regards Alan
  14. Hello Mick, A great picture. Grebes & Coots are very protective of their chicks, I have seen them chase off swans or anything else that comes near them. Regards Alan
  15. Hello David, I must say that your boat is a sheer joy to behold. Wooden launches of this quality must need a lot of work to keep the woodwork looking crisp and not a sign of dampness under the varnish. Could you please tell us your story of restoration on your boat. Regards Alan
  16. Will the real Hockham Admiral please come forward it would seem that he has been replaced by a doppelganger!!! Passed a pub indeed Sorry John it had to be said. Regards Alan
  17. Hello Ali, The river just above Yarmouth is very shallow on the tapering sides at low water, there are warnings regarding these banks, it is advisable to try and stay in the middle of the river when ever possible until well out of Yarmouth. Most boats yards will state there is no mooring between The Stracey Mill and the Yarmouth Yacht Station and this is endorsed by the Broads Authority. Regards Alan
  18. Hello Mark, Thank you for the video. Robin those do look very big don't they, maybe Clive can fill us in. Regards Alan
  19. Hello David, Very interesting. We are in process of adding additional website links onto the forum. Would you be interested in taking part by having a link posted? Regards Alan
  20. Hello mickfreakley, Welcome to the forum from Tan & myself, Sorry I do not need a cover but best of luck with the sale. Regards Alan
  21. Hello Kerri, Welcome to the forum and please feel free to keep us posted on your venture. I have yet to visit the Reedcutters but I am down on the Southern Rivers in September so I will call in and see what you have to offer. We are a friendly forum and as such allow commercial members to join and get involved. The Norfolk Broads is loved by many people who wish to get involved in the many pursuits that the Broads have to offer but without the pubs, restaurants, shops and businesses that make up the Broads it would be a sorry place. Should you wish to advertise with us with a banner on the site please contact Jonzo who will be more than willing to help you. Regards Alan
  22. Hello Ali, That is a good photo of Arabella no doubt being filling up with fuel at Brooms fuel station. I am glad I am not paying for that, those twin engines will just eat fuel. The Waters Edge is a great improvement on what it was, the pub was quite busy when we went there earlier in the year. John I think it was about £75 for four of us and that included drinks. Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Regards Alan
  23. Hello Paladin, The white coloured storks are indeed Egrets, we have a number on the trip from Reedham towards Breydon Water at low water.
