  1. Sorry Jonny it works for me. When I installed it this morning at home on my Windows 7 PC it asked re the firewall before installation & asked again when going back to the Richardson's Webcam link, after that it just operates when ever you click the link as it does on my XP PC at work. Regards Alan
  2. There is never the odd American about when you want them to buy a Bridge or two! Regards Alan
  3. Hi Jonny, Have you been back into the Website after you downloaded & installed VLC? Regards Alan
  4. And there's me thinking this may be a way saving costs on a future Forum Meet at Beccles. Regards Alan
  5. Hi John, They must have been Southerners, not like us Northerners, frugal! and are renowned for growing a winter coat. Regards Alan
  6. Hello Gary, How is the progress going on Carvelle, maybe you could let us know in a separate post. Sorry to go off topic. I agree a pound card will last all night and has done with two people sharing the socket. Regards Alan
  7. Hi Fred, The only time I went to the Yacht Station was in 2001 and that was by bus, I wanted to know about the set up and look at the bridge. It was operated out of a shed and Harbour Master looked as if he had spent all his life in the sun, I could not understand what he was saying and he shrugged when ever I spoke. The Yacht Station needs floating pontoons with associated walkways to be effective, as it stands at the moment it is an accident waiting to happen again like the unfortunate lady that drowned a couple of years ago. Regards Alan
  8. I had not viewed Richardson's webcams from my home PC and added the link from my work PC. Needless to say I had to download the VLC. I viewed the cameras after downloading the file and they are working this morning, could the issue be that you are running on a MAC? Jonny, I found this on Google http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRmLsriWku0 and there is a MAC download version Regards Alan
  9. Hello Hylander, We will be interested in any news on this subject. Regards Alan
  10. Thank you Gary for the information, do you want to join under your original login details. If that is case Martin or Jonzo can sort this out for you. Regards Alan
  11. Hello Paul, Welcome to the forum from Tan and myself. If you want any advice ask away we are a friendly bunch. It is a pity that you did not hire from Richardson's last time because they have loyalty bonuses and discounts, some of the other forum members might be able to fill you in on these. Please report on your weekend away, I am glad that you both enjoyed the experience of the trip. Regards Alan
  12. Hello Archie, Welcome to the forum from Tan & I. Sounds as if Old Leigh is a place to be avoided, like a number of other places on our waterways. Regards Alan
  13. Hello Linny, Thnk you for the update, How was the New Inn at Rockland Staithe? Regards Alan
  14. Hello Neil, Going by your latest post I assume that you are now hooked and will no doubt visit the Broads again? Regards Alan
  15. Hello Robin, I tend to agree with you. The £800,000 plus spent and not completed, and is in essence now just a pedestrial bridge is not money well spent. Regards Alan
  16. Hello Nick, John & Robin are correct we all started on the Broads at some time, we may have been on different waterways such as canals or lakes etc. We had been on the canals for years before we started on the Broads in 2001, the only training we were given was doing figure eights on Hoveton Little Broad and then we were let loose. We were alright on the river no problems until we tried to moor at Acle to take on water, we did not hit anything but had to have several goes at it, it give not help with a guy on the bank saying "That's not the way to do it", who had drifted off by the time we were fully moored. We soon learned that tidal waters can be tricky, the wind does not help at times either. Getting away from moorings can be difficult at times at certain places such as Reedham Ferry and Stokesby where the current tends to push you back into the bank. In cases such as this you did right in reversing off of the moorings. When I now give training to our new owners we practice mooring on both port and starboard and stern mooring, with and without bow thruster, we try this several times until the owner is confident that they can do if fully themselves. It is only when you are in charge of a boat yourself that that you can moor without any glitches and looks as if you having being doing it for years, two people just step off the boat with the ropes and the boat just glides into the mooring, perfect. The next attempt everything goes wrong and the mooring is full of people looking on (Gongoozlers is a canal term for onlookers but is apt on all waterways) usually just grinning away. That is boating for you, it gets better over the years but we all still have our moments. Looking forward to your next day report and more pictures. Regards Alan
  17. Hi Nick, I see that you have found the measure of a Norfolk Mile it always seems much longer than a normal mile. I bet when you drifted into the mooring with ease that nobody was watching, when we make a hash of it everyone and their mothers are watching. Please continue with your story. Regards Alan
  18. Hello Jill, So what is your take on the bridge and the work carried out, I see there is no under drawing of the bridge even though the lower sections have not been cleaned or painted. Regards Alan
  19. Hello Peter, Welcome to the forum and an area for your fellow Bounty owners. I am sure loads of people will be along soon to welcome you. Regards Alan
  20. Here is a picture of a boat that ran into Vauxhall Bridge in 2012. Regards Alan
  21. Hi Neil, One of the new Broom's hire craft hit St Olaves Bridge at the start of the season on one of its first trips out. Regards Alan
  22. Hello June, I take it you were taken with the Dukes Head at Somerleyton, plenty of outdoor tables for the summer months when it is fine and plenty of tables in the restaurant if not. The food is reasonable and lot better than some of the other pubs on the Broads. Enjoy your journey back up to the Northern Rivers. Regards Alan
  23. Hi John, We have now been moored at Tingdene for at least 5 years and it is only at the start of this season that I asked Chris to show me around the Broom Cupboard, as Keith said it is tucked away a short walk up into the Broom's complex. He stocks basic chandlery items which can get you out of the mire and at times does have newspapers and grocery items. We tend to get our gas bottles from Broom's as well. Regards Alan
  24. Hi John, There is a fish and chip shop next to the garage and electrical shop at Brundall. Just around the corner from Station Road. Personally I have never seen it open but then our change over days are Tuesday. Regards Alan
