If it's a hireboat though they can't ascertain the helmsman's name and address and I'm led to believe the hire company doesn't have to disclose it (I would imagine that would be a GDPR minefield).
Even if hire companies had to disclose customer crew names, they would have no way of knowing which member of the crew was helming at the time. Perhaps the BA will install car park-style cameras!
It is indeed a gorgeous spot and being small and surrounded by trees is fairly sheltered. Just be sure to leave enough slack on your mudweight rope to allow for tidal rise and fall.
You may be right. It's not surprising really, given there are fewer bookings generally. Also Pacific have 3 other two berths (Sky, Oasis and Sunshine) which are more recent boats with not much price difference.
Is that the Gardenia Girl still on hire?
Just been perusing Brinks Prelude. It looks all very nice (2 full size fridges, separate showers, hybrid power etc) but I think as an 8 berth it could do with more than 2 toilets. One of them is ensuite with the other shared by the remaining 6 crew. Yours for £3794 for 7 nights this August.
Assuming both boats are going, I'm hoping Pacific are planning replacements. I haven't hired from Pacific since 2006 and that's far too long. They're now unique in offering reasonably priced boats on the south Broads.
You'll have seen Ferry Marina are still offering a 20% discount Jean, makes their prices a bit more sensible. They have a lot of availability in July and August at the moment. September and October you could have more or less any of theirs you wanted.
To claim the upturn in trade at the Granary restaurant is due to the introduction of mooring charges is complete nonsense. They cannot possibly link the two and the increase is far more likely to be due to the restaurant changing their business model, offering evening meals and doing it well.
I found out to my cost on my recent trip that getting there too early going north can be awkward too, at least if you want to moor. The tide was stronger than my bow thrusters were.
So who would pay the millions required to raise the bridge - a hidden money tree?
It looks like both Pacific Breeze and Pacific Imperial are on their last season of hire. Both have no online availability for 2024. The traditional aft cockpit cruiser is becoming an endangered species.
Brinks Prelude 3 has been launched.
Yes Aweigh is pretty good. The only thing it's a little too simplistic for is it's "Tide falling"/"Tide rising" message. I think it assumes the tide rises and falls in a uniform way which we all know it doesn't.
I'm confused as to why the BA would reject situating the mooring at the river end of the dyke on safety grounds. Would a mooring there really be unsafe compared to South Broads moorings elsewhere?
A further point about Langley - unlike the North Broads the South has very few wild moorings and those that do exist no doubt could present depth issues on a low tide. The BA, therefore, has a responsibility to maintain and improve the availability of public moorings on the South just as much as it does in the north. If it's taking over Hardley Mill that's a positive step. Are pontoon moorings cheaper to install and maintain than piling?
I'm aware that happens but a new unrelated subject belongs in a new thread IMHO. Probably just my data oriented brain in overdrive as that's what I do for a living. I'll say no more.
No I didn't receive a proper explanation sadly.
Yes I accept the consequences of falling in with no-one around could be greater. However, as an experienced hirer I consider myself lower risk of causing damage and injury than a crew of novices.
