  1. Very disappointing on our Grove last night. Less than half the dwellings were showing support - a poor show imho No doubt once it's all over a&e will still be full of gobby abusive pond life on a Friday night but we can only hope for a change in attitudes Oh, we can but hope Griff
  2. Success. All done and operational once more Griff
  3. And what the Hell are we talking about tides for? We ain't, well not on this thread I hope Griff
  4. There were 3 x more cables getting ready to let go. In my previous photo you can see the band of cloth tape, the cables fracture right next to the tapes edge or shoulder. Simple modification here is to remove the tape altogether thereby extending the length that the cable can flex when the door is open / closed. Anyroadup now to try and put the whole lot back together and then test before I put the inner door panel back on Griff
  5. Here's the 'Bugler'. I will check the rest of them of course Griff
  6. I think you should prepare yourself for being very, very unhappy, further down the line. The BA has a long track record of bending the rules to breaking point, when it suits them. Don't I know it Griff
  7. Yeah, I kinda worked that one out too. Thanks for the advice all the same - Shows you are paying attention Griff
  8. There I am only a few days ago driving in Trevor and I get a warning light followed by the computer dash display telling me that the drivers door is open - It most definitely is not, I reckon I would have known / noticed such an issue. Pulled up. Open / closed all doors. Lock and unlock via remote on the key, the drivers and passengers doors both won't lock and the horn sounds to tell me there is a door open - No there isn't. The load area is however locked - Strange. Youtube - Yep - there it is. Apparently these latest model of Transits have an Achilles heel. The wiring loom between the A frame and the drivers door has as habit of fracturing some of the wires. It' a common fault and a right awkward job to rectify. Normally this would have been proper frustrating as Trevor is employed along with myself at least 6 x days a week apart from Sundays when of course repair / service garages are quite rightly shut. So, the fault has arrived an an opportune time. Most if not all garages should be shut whilst the country is in this partial lockdown, I gave up car mechanics an age ago. I have time on my hands so I will give it a go I have it stripped down ready as of yesterday. Today I will peel back the flexible rubber protector, identify at least one broken wire, solder a repair, then put the lot back together. What will be proper awkward is if I have more than one broken wire as they are not colour coded. That will be a headache Griff
  9. Yes it is, its the kitchen floor with direct access from outside - side door - I also travel alone in Trevor, if it wasn't for the materials I could just walk round the corner! The owners could easily stay out of the kitchen too. I'll put it to them next week maybe Another job I've been asked to carry out, is cleaning moss etc off a bungalow roof, its a big bungalow and will take at least a couple of days. The bungalow is stand alone - No neighbours (Farm house). I'd be most surprised if I met anyone up there! Griff
  10. Personally, my thoughts are that I'm more than happy to pay the toll on 'B.A' even though for the foreseeable we can't use her. I want the rivers and facilities to be there for us all to use after this national crisis is put to bed. I also agree that the hire yards should be given a toll holiday so they can hopefully manage and keep going. What I will not be happy about - if it happens - is that the private boat owners next year have to shoulder the shortfall caused by the hire toll holiday. Some of it yes - maybe a one off extra few £'s but would it be a 'One Off' or set a new higher base line for the following years to come? Unfortunately I have a distrust about the Ba brought on entirely by their own actions over the years Griff
  11. Hmmm? Wonder if I could get away with that one, I have a floor to tile round the corner - I'll ask them - Maybe Griff
  12. Entering Houses? What about the part that simple states STAY AT HOME - apart from food / medical shopping Griff
  13. where is the sense??????? Certainly not with your friends. I have a job pending in my village, literally just round the corner. All the materials are either with me or the client. It's a two day job. I could do with earning the brass. The guidance states only go to work if you cannot work from home. - That allows me to go to work. Work from home if you can - nearly everywhere I work is a home - That allows me to go to work again. However - Do NOT visit other households not even family or friends - That's me not allowed to go to work - So we are indoors and following guidelines. I have emailed all clients due for the next three weeks - Then we review. Stranger - I suggest you have a strong word with your friends - they are being totally selfish and putting more than just their own lives at risk Griff
  14. That's been my first 'On-lIne' funeral service. Hope it's the last. Grateful that I got to say Tarrah to Boycee / Alan all the same Griff
  15. Iv'e got it fine now - Lovely song Griff
  16. I've done everything the black background screen is telling me to do but it doesn't seem to be playing for me - Well disappointing Griff
  17. So to cheer MrsG up I’ve just got a world map out pinned it to the wall and gave her a dart and said where ever it lands I’m taking you there when all this shite has disappeared. Looks like we’ve got a fortnight behind the fridge !! Griff
  18. Not allowed out in the garden? Why ever not? surely you are more than 2m away from your neighbours unless they are hanging over the garden fence? Griff
  19. We’ve got plenty to get on with at home. Here’s just one of them, jet washing the decorative stone in the back garden. Took only an hour or so and came up a treat I need to replace some grouting which I will do so today Griff
  20. I’ve known for about a month but it wasn’t my place to say publicly I too will be glad it will be at last dog friendly. Just need a new gundog pup now Griff
  21. That's 2 x Hrs completed at the unoccupied dwelling. The lot is ready in all respects for commencing tiling, however I can do no more as the tile suppliers are now quite correctly shut. I've got some backer boards to drop off at the clients where I should originally have been working at today, they are in my van and will be in the way as I want to at some point deep clean Trevor inside and out. I will leave the boards on their drive for them to put in their garage as agreed. Then? - That's me - Unemployed for the first time since I commenced full time employment as a very young 15 year old in June of 76. On the upside our office / loft / garage are going to get a serious seeing too over the coming weeks whether they like it or not My Local clay shooting ground will be shut this Sunday, I've not heard yet officially but I would assume so and if it is open I'm obeying the governments instructions and not going - Most gutted about that one. I've lost three clay shoot team competitions at Lambton, Azerly and Whitburn respectively. A farmer friend has suggested setting up a few traps in one of his fields for a select few of us. I'm in two minds about this one. We can easily keep the 2m apart as instructed but there will be more than two of us at the same location at the same time. However those out in the parks taking exercise will easily be more than just two people in the same location even if they are the recommended 2m apart, as will folk visiting food shops and hospitals etc. Whilst shooting I will of course be exercising - walking, manning a trap etc when its my turn - If it happens and if I go I have cancelled a boat maintenance weekend (Should have been onboard right now). A 60th B'day party for a mate who has booked two H.W's cruisers plus 'B.A' that should have been the first weekend in April - He has rebooked the lot for April 2021 when we will celebrate his 60th on his 61st The NBN annual meet has gone for a Burton Another cancelation was a 50th B'day party near Sutton Coldfied staying over in t hotel. . On the upside, due to the current instructions from our government we and all our family / friends are alive and have a decent chance of staying that way I have kept on the diaries the bank holiday weekend onboard 21 - 25th May - I live in hope. Then there is the Annual wooden boat show due in August - Looking forward to that one even more so now - Fingers crossed Wish I had a new gundog to train - Now would be ideal. Looks like Mrsg will at last get her much overdue corrective training then Really? Griff
  22. So, due to the national emergency announced last night by Boris - That's me and MrsG confined to our home. I have emailed everyone in my work diary for the next three weeks that I now cannot attend to the jobs booked in. So far all have been understanding. It looks like the pair of us are now out of work and not earning even just 1p over the coming weeks. Being self employed apparently I am 'Entitled' to £94 per week. No doubt by the time I get the form filled in and back through the system, it'll be more than 3 x weeks down the road. I can do just a half days work if I choose to do so in a property that is unoccupied but that is only a half day to complete the prepwork. Might as well seeing as there will be zero social contact. Three weeks confined to our home? - Should be a breeze, treat it like a holiday. I certainly spent many times that period out at sea in a past life Griff
