  1. Sigh, ok I’ll go first I can’t quite remember what beaver tastes like, it’s been that long! Griff
  2. Wow, who needs varnish? You need to watch you don’t get it that glass smooth that the varnish won’t penetrate or stick! Griff
  3. Look for the Jasper Carrot clip on mole hunting - Hilarious Griff
  4. ‘B.A’ tucked up in t wetshed, i’m treating mysen to dinner the Bridge Inn. Here now Broadsword and dinner on it’s way. Then drive back to wetshed, dvd, nightcap’S’ and off to bed. It’s proper cold outdoors with hail n driving rain on and off, I wouldn’t be surprised if it snowed Griff
  5. I remember the bmw being brought up years back. Seems the local pond life use ‘this stretch of river to cool down their hot wares Griff
  6. Did you fathom out the water pump / pressure leak? Griff
  7. Donny 1 Rotherham 1....not so insignificant... Absolutely gutted. Donny was 1-0 up, five minutes of added time shown on the board. Referee allowed play to continue until Rotherham equalised at 96:40 then immediately blew the final whistle - Not happy, it's no wonder Ref's get verbal abuse for not following the rules of the game Griff
  8. Sorry Mike - Rotherham Insignicant little town on t’other side of the A1 Griff
  9. Well, here we are at the Home of Donny Rovers. If every there was a ‘Must Win’ game it’s today v Rotherham. Come on you mighty Rovers Griff
  10. Ah, snag, I'm in Stalham from tomorrow evening through to Wednesday pm, then back home. I'm then not due onboard till sometime in January Griff
  11. Robin - Give him a PM, If you don't, then I will and get it for you. I can collect anytime from this Sunday morning Griff
  12. No more than a modest house, probably less so. A lot less rooms / space Griff
  13. I'll get a tin sent to you along with some pure turpentine (Not the substitute stuff) with my method of application etc. Oh and I'll get some genuine 'Purdy' brushes to you as well Griff
  14. Just a (slightly improper) thought - stow a cheap, small beam trawl somewhere, get registered as a fishing boat and fill up with red diesel - or come to an arrangement with MM. Erm, I don't geddit. We - that is all hire and private boats alike are already legally allowed to fill up with red diesel, whether we be commercial or leisure - it matters not. The only difference between commercial an leisure is the 60/40 split not the colour of the fuel! Griff
  15. Looking good there Pete, I see that you will use about four planks for the transom, on the real thing there must be about 12 separate horizontal planks - No don't even think about changing them! Cant wait to see them flatted off, (320g) then varnished. What varnish do you intend to use? Brava as on 'B.A' gives a cracking high depth gloss finish, shall I order you some? Griff
  16. "Hook a Duck" Easy for you to say caught and dislodged a keep net on a moored boat in front, causing the net to sink without trace. Despite the anglers best attempts the net could not be retrieved so he was out of pocket and worst of all an estimated 20-25lb of skimmers and roach were condemned to lingering death. Why oh why are some anglers still using keep nets? In my earlier years (and to my now eternal shame) we always used a keep net as a matter of course (Pun intended), looking back we used them for no real or good reason, imho they are barbaric and cruel to the fish. Only time there is an 'Excuse' if one is match fishing. Each to their own I suppose, but no longer for the likes of me, in fact I no longer own one - consigned it to the skip years ago once I had been better educated. During our annual Lads Week afloat, there is not a keep net in sight anywhere, and woe betide anyone who even suggests using one if they are part of 'My' crew Anyroadup Gramps - thoroughly enjoying your holiday tale Griff
  17. Hi Griff, I would be interested to know that when they give an air draft of a boat, I assume this is on it's own and when fully laden with people, fuel, water and goods so to speak, how much can this affect the air draft? Sorry CaptainKev for the delayed reply:- When 'They' give an airdraft I take it you mean the hire boat outfits or boat builders? - My answer to that one is simply - I don't know (Shock / horror). I do know how we did it with 'B.A' that is measured her exactly with no room for error. I measured her airdraft with a full diesel tank (Her diesel tank is always left full after use) and full water tanks. There were however only two crew onboard and minimal victuals / personal gear. The variable in this one is that sometimes she can have up to eight crew onboard (Nine once) with all their personal gear, victuals, bonded stores (strangely quite a lot most times, I wonder why?) fishing tackle etc. So at the time of me measuring her she was considered by me to be light in the wet stuff. Now 'B.A' has got plenty of buoyancy, full crew etc won't make much of a difference to her plimsoll line (If she had one) with her being a fair size boat. The smaller and lighter the boat, the more difference crew / stored up will make of course. I could go to the trouble of taking her airdraft in various states of crew / stores, but that imho is getting to be too much of being an anorak. So I have erred on the side of caution with regards to her actual airdraft. If I'm in any doubt regarding bridge heights, then it's simple - I don't go for it - Don't want to do a Maurice Mynah now do I? And besides the mark of a good skipper, is someone who never has to prove just how 'Good' they are! Hope this helps, Griff
  18. Couple of points, I have just paid for and ordered a calendar via the link to Paypal, But I couldn't get back onto this page or the NBN and had to start again, not really sure if I am logged out of paypal either. Also I missed the delivery address option, it is now apparently automatically sending the calendar to me and I don't want it sent to my address but to another address, can I amend this somehow? Thanks, Griff
  19. Cracking - Loved it and passed onto my mate. TVMOM Griff
  20. Really? what size / hp / condition? Griff
  21. Well I never did. We have the Rascal purchasing a Gin Palace, now got word today that a mate of mine up here has just purchased a Fairey Huntsman 28'. Now this mate doesn't know much about boats, in fact I don't think he has ever owned a boat. He enters the boat ownership world with a F.H Huntsman? But here's the rub, he's bought it without any engines, whether it has Gearbox's, shafts / props I know not. He wants me to go have a look at it for him, It's at Misterton apparently so not far away. I advised him that he should have asked me before he parted with the folding stuff. Well it's done now. What concerns me most is the price he paid for it seems far too cheap to me, that can only mean one thing, - it requires a restoration, let alone a pair of 200+hp marine diesels Griff
  22. Agreed and thanks for stepping up to the plate and keeping us unruly lot in order Griff
  23. Posh? Don't know about that but they are made of the right stuff! You got enough for the cabin sides? Port Out Starboard Home Griff
  24. I commenced another tiling job this morning for a Lady. Sometime during the day I asked her who had recommended 'GriffTile' to her? She stated that her sister had done so, I had not done any work for her sister, but her sister stated that she had met a nice man that was a tiler. She came to this (obviously correct) assumption as earlier this year she had reversed her car into my van when I was working in a clients house, came knocking at the door to apologise and exchange details. I took a look at my van, just a minor battle scar to add to t'others and said there was no need to exchange details, she gave me a huge hug, so I said could she back her car into my van again? I was most impressed / grateful by her honesty and that she came knocking in the first place. The hug was a bonus So that was a strange way to get recommended eh? but just goes to show, what goes round comes round Griff
