First section opened yesterday from A1067 to the A140. Will be giving it a whirl later this week!

Just back from 3 days working on the NNDR. Seems like it is going to be delayed for a number of reasons.

Finally, I got up to our boat today, last saw her in late January (work, work and more work). As she was winterised, I loaded the water system with 8 Milton tabs dissolved first and then filled her tanks to the brim. I will leave for a week or so and hope to get back next weekend to rinse, check and repeat as suggested by members here (Ta) Neither the bow tank vent or those on the rear starboard side do anything when the taks are full, water still overflows from the filler point. I have given up asking Ferry to inspect, advise, etc etc. They just never get in touch. The fact the vents no longer seem to do anything is worrying as they need to work in order for the water system to be in good order. Some serious jetwashing took all my time today so no chance to do a deeper inspection. None of the pipework in the engine bay has been changed.

Depends on how many are logged on at one time I would guess and also possibly not the fastest broadband connection. We fitted a big system with multiple PTZ dome cameras for a customer years back on a BB line that was 512 up and 1 Mb down at best. Controlling those was fun when you needed them in anger lol

Ah yes Howard, I remember that now. I'm also pretty sure that the NBN quiz team used the Bell as their home turf! The occasion then was Perry's 50th and they were staying at the now (sadly) defunct hotel which was down the Avenue in Wroxham.

What is it like as a pub these days? The last time I was in there (2010), it looked okay. That visit was with Perry, David and Simon aka PKS1702, Antares9 and Plesbit!

Our rhond anchors are fine but, when the ground is hard, they do need a bit of "mallet assistance" to fix down

A local friend used to moor in the Solent and owned a rather large sea going boat. When he sold it, he gave me a high power flood/searchlight. It is safely tucked away for future use elsewhere and is nowhere near our boat, nor will it ever be!! Good point about viewing through glass. I had the canopy off when night cruising so the best view was available. If however, I had remembered our trackplotter which was switched on, life could have been a whole lot easier...oops!

Thinking back, it was Fleet Dyke to Ferry, not Ranworth!!

You kid me not Griff! I have only done it once, by accident when I lost track of the time. Ranworth to Ferry Marina was a bit hairy to say the least and I was solo helm. I just used our normal nav lights with no spot and that kept my night vision intact. Insurance has been mentioned here and it is worth checking your policy as a private owner. I am now insured to run solo helm and also to nav at night. On our original cover, neither of those items were covered!

Loads of Goldfinches here which is great. Neighbours cats can be a problem from time to time especially if they leave a "present" in our garden. We have a brown tabby cat that quite happily stays indoors and only ventures in the garden when supervised by us. Our first brown tabby who we lost in 1989 was a real character. He actually looked after birds and if any other cats were around, he would shoo them off. Needless to say, after all these years, he will not be forgotten!

Hi Griff, I suppose we both got in the habit of not drinking from the tanks once we bought her in 2004. When we hired, we would drink the water but then it was also filtered. There was an old filter on our boat but we could never get the top to unscrew to fit a new cartridge and it is long gone after the cold winter of 2010. The marina lost power and it got so cold on board that the whole unit exploded! I was gonna get rid of it anyway so that solved the problem . Our tanks are newish Aquaflow units fitted in 2009 and the calorifier was new in 2012. Some of the original pipe work is very old though. I'm going to follow the suggestion in the tech thread and dose the system with loads of sterilising fluid and leave in contact with all the surfaces, rinse out and repeat. I am certain that once the tank venting issue is resolved, the problem should go away

Thanks Trev! I haven't been to the marina since late January. I did start a thread in the tecchie area re this problem last year and got some good suggestions for a fix. The issue only arose after the workshop fixed a water leak on board and it seems the tank vents have either been blocked off or bypassed since the repair. I have asked the marina to investigate but as the boat is winterised, I doubt they have been able to do much. As I posted in the other thread, since the repair, when filling the tanks water overflows from the filler cap and no longer the vents. I'm pretty sure this is related to the rotten egg smell. I should emphasise that we never have nor will drink the tank water, even when boiled. Washing up and showers is all it gets used for.

Around now is the time we normally do. Water should be back on at Ferry and the tanks need more than a good flush through plus tons of sterilising tabs to get rid of the "eggy pong". We never drink from the taps and rely on fresh water for tea, coffee etc so no real risk there.
