  1. Then you run the risk of developing Carpal Tunnel lol
  2. I was using a mains powered polisher last week and accidentally pulled the extension lead too far causing it to fall into the water. Unplugged all the shore power completely to make all safe. Nothing tripped out though which I would have expected.
  3. Nearly ran off Beachy Head when I was 17. Friends parents had taken us there for the day and it had rained for a good while. I slipped on a steep section and found myself running down the slope and unable to stop! As the slope leveled out, I managed to let my legs fold and fall over 100 yards from the edge of the cliff. Came to no harm but I did lose the heels from my platform shoes lol
  4. Thanks Vaughan and Charlie. The fan we have is fully compliant as are all our pumps, battery chargers etc. I am more than aware of the volatility of petrol after 12 yrs of ownership thanks! It will be changed asap before the engine is run.
  5. Never gets hot and just makes a lot of noise! I did manage to spray in some WD40 that hit the spot but only for so long. Once it has run for about a minute, it sorts itself out.
  6. We never run ours anywhere but on our home mooring and even that is for short spells only. Just our way of considering others really. As we are petrol, the bilge blower needs to be used before we start and our old fan has a bearing issue which resembles a cockerel being strangled. Must to be replaced asap!
  7. We have a 1984 Falcon 22 and the shower drains straight into the bilge. The bilge has to get quite an amount of water from the drain before the bilge pump will push it out through the skin fitting. All other owners have mentioned a sump that collects the water with an attached pump to exit the hull. Because our shower is on the starboard side, plus we have a planing hull, there is little clearance below to fit a sump. Any suggestions would be welcomed!
  8. Much improved now all the quayheadings are finished. It was a quagmire while they were doing the work which was unavoidable but all was finished by May 2009.
  9. Thanks Alan and Broad Scot. I remember Ranworth Breeze as she used to moor close to us in Ferry
  10. Is it acceptable to install a shaver socket in the shower room on our Falcon? I'm not sure how a boat safety examiner would view this. We had shore power, sockets and auto battery charger fitted by Ferry Marina in 2012. We are also thinking about adding a small microwave oven on board but currently have no inverter fitted. Could anyone recommend the correct size unit we would need to run a microwave?

    Sad News

    Indeed! My thoughts entirely.
  12. Our rear canopy needs to be unzipped, removed and scrubbed and we need a nice dry day to do it. Plans were made to do same jobbie this weekend. Plans may be put on hold lol
  13. All of us from those schooldays who are still in touch remember one particular Heron, aptly named "Yellow Peril" That was the one I went over in and I recall loads of people she tipped in the drink over two years. The mast halyard snapped one day when two guys were on a full blown reach.
  14. I have a Dart Charge account which works fine although you do need to keep an eye on things. They are supposed to top the account up by direct debit but sometimes they don't and they issue penalty notices. I do use the crossing a lot so it makes sense as I would probably forget to pay by midnight the next day.
  15. Thanks Q, that brought back some memories. Capsizing springs to mind!
  16. It's all light hearted Peter
  17. On the other hand, if I could find a cheap Heron dinghy, I could do both (not at the same time of course). On a recent trip back to my old school, I met the teacher that taught me to sail and once I told him we owned a stinky, he refused to speak to me for the rest of the day (apart from telling me how disgusted he was that I sailed no more lol)
  18. I used to then in 2004 I bought one of these
  19. I drove from Brundall to the A11 yesterday on the A47 and saw/felt no potholes at all
  20. Seen it myself this week and anything that will make it easier to get from Horning to Spixworth is good in my book!
  21. I can only say that we have had one "good experience" there and that was in 2009. The remainder echoes Griifs comments. I doubt we will bother anymore.
  22. Must be username and password (strong) of course for remote access!
  23. Not ideal if you are in the IT trade (albeit we only touch on certain sections). In our case, we provide remote monitoring for CCTV so if for example, the control room calls with a suspect bband fail, we can log into the router to see if it is the BB or transmitter failure. If you can access the router, another item is at fault...simples!
