Guest
Sunday 30th December A grey gloomy start in Reedham began with the usual dog walk around the village before setting off straight after at around 0900. It was a little earlier than planned, the Yarmouth slack to head up North was around 1100 but i headed off along the River Yare anyway, trying to take my time but being pushed along by the tide I was making very quick progress. Breydon crossing was rather uneventful, the water was calm and there were no other boats around, but at least the sun was putting up a fight to try and get out I made it to Yarmouth bridges by around 1030 (ish) and found although plenty of clearance the ebbing tide was still strong, having been doing around 7mph at 1300 rpm over Breydon, I was now doing 1mph at 1500rpm. It was slooooooow, progress As I passed the Yacht Station and the River opened up more the ebb wasn't quite so strong and I began making more progress Just after 1200 the sun began to win it's battle and the day began to warm up as I continued up the Bure It was 1235 by the time I reached the Stracey Arms, with its restoration work on going Continuing up the Bure through Stokesby And within an hour I had reached Acle. The pub moorings were fairly busy, but the BA moorings were empty bar one other boat, and being solo, the posts are easier for me than the rings, so I moored up there for a 1325 dinnertime break. The dog and I walked over the bridge A great viewing platform for the River And we'll, you know me, pass a pub pop in a pub so it was time for a beer (or two) at The Bridge Inn. Once finished up we set off back over the bridge and then along Stokesby New Road to The Ferry Inn at Stokesby Which was fairly busy The best pool table on the broads And then I sat outside, watching the River flow by The daylight was soon lost however, and after a couple of beers it was time to head back to the boat at 1700, where I had a relaxing evening on board, preparing for the next day. SwanR
Might be. Might not be. Just wave to the camera as you go even if it’s still dark. I’ll let you off from singing at that time of day just so as not to wake everyone up!

unclemike
Ijean, if you watch the webcam panning from marina to bridge you get a glimpse of the pilot moorings and a certain moonlight shadow was there at 8 am

SwanR
We stopped in Potter Heigham on a crowded bank holiday Monday once and I couldn't see its charms. Having returned several times it has become one of my favourite places ... but that's when on a road trip from the caravan. Much as I love Bridgestone's for something to eat way more than the King's Something-or-other in Ludham, I do love Womack Dyke or Womack Water for a mooring spot. Less challenging than the wind by the old bridge or a tight turn in Herbie Wood's yard. Looking forward to finding out where you went next Jay ... but please never apologise for not having posted. Updating social media is in my view most definitely not the point of being out on the Broads. #SingForJay
Guest
Sorry guys n girls, I'll update soon. Now moored up at Somerleyton, it was pitch black by the time we got here and so photos are a little less than usual (yes yes, you are welcome). But here's the Waveney River as the sun goes down
