Guest
I think it is very fortunate that the planes are yet to be delivered; the extra weight would make it sink even faster.
grendel
does that mean if they tether helicopters to the deck and run up the engines it will sink slower.

Of course, they could slow the sinking process even further by filling the helicopters with crew from the aircraft carrier.
Maxwellian
With full compliment it is only meant to carry four helicopters and 36 F35's and the F35's are not delivered yet.

They should have been told you have to turn the grease cap half a turn every morning. When we used to hire boats, I'm sure we were told to "give the greaser a quick screw every morning"
quo vadis
Not so sure the greaser / oiler would appreciate that

That takes me back to a question I heard many years ago. Picture this, a man driving a truck laden with birds comes across a bridge and notices that his truck is slightly overweight for what the bridge can handle. If he was to whack the aviary's he was carrying to make the birds fly, would that reduce the load he was carrying?
Hockham Admiral
Try it with people in a ship, Kev, or in an aeroplane. As with the birds the passengers are such an infinitesimal mass compared with that of the ship that it wouldn't register. As they all jump at the same time then the ship will rise by about the width of a molecule and when they land it will sink back to its original position. Done in an aeroplane and the pilot might notice a faint ripple on his cup of tea.
Vaughan
In one of John Winton's books it defines a passenger list as the result of everyone lining the rail to wave good bye when leaving harbour. You can actually see this on Youtube, if you watch film of the Canberra returning home to Southampton from the Falklands. The Welsh Guards and the Paras are all on one side, cheering her in as she berths, and the list to starboard is very obvious!
