Guest
I happened to tune in to the webcam at Potter this morning as a small private boat with a moroon canopy approached the bridge....just as a BA Ranger came the other way!...he swiftly turned around and went the other way.... wombat nee blownup
Yes, but I didn’t need the Cambridge dictionary to agree that there are two “o”s in moron. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network

expilot
Be careful about making any judgements. Please have in mind that boats spotted may well be making essential journeys. The BA Ranger, far from trying to catch miscreants, was, in fact, escorting Broads Authority lighters and assorted workboats travelling downstream from Heigham Sound. Those 'private boats' travelling the Thurne in the vicinity of Potter Bridge are most probably transporting food, medication or essential supplies to occupiers of riverside properties - bungalows for which there is no road access. In the past several weeks not a single boat has passed our riverside property that I haven't recognised as belonging to owners of one of the two hundred and twenty properties on the banks of the Thurne between Martham Ferry and the entrance to Womack Water. A side-effect of the current Covid-19 restrictions is that the public footpaths (maintained by the bungalow owners) on both the North and South banks of the Thurne have been teeming with birdwatchers, joggers, walkers, and cyclists. 8

I personally was not passing judgement - merely stating facts as I saw them of what I thought was an amusing moment. The BA boat, at the time, was travelling from the direction of Martham and the private boat from the other direction when they met - so perhaps not being escorted. Hats off to those who are devoting there time to helping others in this time of need, a very selfless act....nothing deep rooted here - just a bit of fun. ps....I could have mentioned the chap on the Safari rubbing his boat down behind the crane on the main river but chose not to. Chelsea14Ian
I think in general most people have now got it and are taking it seriously. For sure some will need to be on the river, some not.People are allowed out for exercise. All of which is acceptable. Large groups ,playing football, bbq is not on. One of the wonderful things to come out of this madness, is the countless acts of kindness. People have stepped up helping others. There sadly will be some that are selfish. "I can do what I want".Thankfully they are out numbered by the good amongst us. Ian ps Please sign my petition.
