Hose Size?

Does anyone happen to know the size of the hose that attaches to the air vent of the holding tank?

Uh-ho!  Ray, this might not end well! You know what happens when you start these ‘little’ jobs!! 😉

It's the only bit I haven't replaced, seems like a good idea... hopefully 😁

how big is it? ! :default_laugh:

probably 1.3/4" or 1.1/2" ID

Ah, not the large waste carrying ones, the much thinner one that allows pressure to equalise in the tank itself... I was thinking about 1/2" possibly?

I consider myself something of an expert on jobs I wish I hadn't started 😁

Indeed, I specialise in the same area of expertise unfortunately

I am sure however that you have a wonderful boat to be proud of and which gives you many hours of pleasure, when you finally find your way out of the bilges of course :default_biggrin:

Hi Ray the air vent that is open to the air above the tank top to hull fitting is to allow any air pressure to release from the tank is userly 3/4 inch. the air vent for the pump out is 1 1/2 inches this is userly at the side of the pump out cap on the deck and is only opened when pump out hose is connected to allow air to replace the contents when they are sucked out to stop tank imploding. Hi Ray suggest you get the odour free wire supported hose from LeeSan this doesn't have to be thick as it only carries air (smelly air) just make sure you dont kink the hose. and the hull fitting which has a gauze filter isn't blocked. John

just be careful that the  air can get in as quickly as a decent pump can suck it out as otherwise the tank will collapse, I think they are usually the sam in as well as out..

Air can get through a pipe quicker than liquid/toilet mush. The vent pipe should be just that - to vent the tank. Of course there must be a way of getting air in, but the pipe doesn't need to be the same diameter as the sucky out pipe (1.5 or 1.75 ins). Never seen a vent skin fitting that size.

"Ones", in the plural? Mine has a large input, large output (pump out), and large vent to the side of the hull. In addition there's a smaller diameter flush which has a cap next to the pump out. I replaced this with "Bosphorous Sanition Hose 19mm" from Lee Sanitiation. It's 19mm id, 27mm od and I have a bit left 39 inches long which is yours if you're not in a hurry.

That's very kind, thank you. I have unwittingly confused the issue with my first post though I fear. It is the much narrower "tube" that runs from a small outlet on the top of the holding tank to a grill on the opposite side of the boat to the pumpout and flush openings on the deck. It equalises pressure in the tank as waste is pumped into it from the wc.

In fact AnnV (John) above identified what I was trying to say and I now have an order in for the correct hose.

My apologies to everyone trying to help me, it is not knowing the correct terminology that gets me into trouble... but I'm learning 👍

Ray Please take no offence but unwittingly confused and much narrower smaller tube are an age thing, and absolutely nothing to do with your boat.:default_biggrin:.kindest Regards Marge and Parge
