Guest
When I got to my boat at stalham the water had gone down about 1 foot is this normal ? I would have thought it would be higher not lower It's not very often, but it is quite normal for the level to drop that low occasionally. The EA gauge level at Barton is showing the water level at four inches below the bottom of the average range. http://apps.environment-agency.gov.uk/river-and-sea-levels/riverstation.aspx?StationId=6216&RegionId=1&AreaId=2&CatchmentId=5 It's caused by a number of factors occurring simultaneously, very low rainfall and South Easterly winds over the last several days, and we're in the middle of a neap tide period. Now's the time to get under Potter bridge !
MBA Marine
Something to do with the moon! I have seen a lot of boats at funny angles. Its worth highlighting this as boat owners should check their ropes if they can and possibly let them out a few inches. You cannot relay on the marina you are in to do it, some might but most wont. Hylander
On this link it shows that one of the little boats in Beccles Harbour has sunk. Do hope the owner has been informed.

NorfolkNog
The Potter bridge Twitter feed reported seven feet one inch today. Incredible. Now's the time to sneak through!
Hylander
It is ok sneaking through it is the sneaking back that is the problem if the tide decides that the next one is a high one.
marshman
All those factore mentionned affect the tide , but most significant is a sustained period of high pressure.

Poppy
There is a partial eclipse of the sun on Friday. Perhaps this is an additional influence?
