So who stole all the water in the rivers today? Come on own up you thieving gits! I heard talk of low pressure over the north of england being to blame and high SW'ly winds but we all know someone has siphoned all the water out! If anyone knows of someone recently having a water meter fitted please dob them in to Wild Fuzz.

Clearly many boats have been lifted out of the river for storage on hard standing.

Sadly, looking at the evening news on TV, the poor folks in Cumbria appear to have collected it all. Hopefully not too much damage done.

I'm in Essex where we had some amazing sunrise colours this morning - it has been very windy but it stayed dry.

I've just been reading abut a similar downpour that affected the area between Aylsham and Norwich in 1912, there was a train stuck at Aylsham for 7 weeks due to the floods and damage to the track. I know that the terraced houses between the recruiting Sergeant and the bridge at Horstead were under 4 feet of water at the time and the lower end of Prince of Wales road in Norwich was flooded. Over 40 Bridges were destroyed at the time as well.

 So this sort of Weather has been around for a long time...

Theres a lot of talk about the government not doing enough about flood defences but I doubt theres much that can be done when 14" of rain hits in 24 hours, especially on hilly ground.
