  1. In case anyone is going shortly just a reminder courtesy of ECP.
  2. I'm with Trevor. Get a couple of woven polypropylene sacks and use ballast (as in sand). This combination has the ability to mould quite nicely around odd shapes in the bilges. Broom use this for 'fine tuning'.
  3. COLREGS shall not apply etc.... except they are COLREGS in different clothes with a few very minor edits.
  4. Yes I recognise the piece re vessels at anchor but you seem to be asserting in your previous post that there was bylaw that specifically negated the need for a shape for a yacht motor sailing. That has clarified the position.
  5. Have a good time guys. We had intended to come up bad sadly have to accept the weather has beaten us
  6. Which Broads bylaw is that mentioned in then?
  7. Wrong - When under engine they are a power boat, if they have sails up while motoring they should be showing the correct shapes. Amazes me the Yotties we see steering direct into the wind with full sail at 5-6 knots who think we don't know the laws of physics
  8. + 1 Strowager & Kfurbank As you say hopefully should any of us need this service at some time in the future hopefully the selfish & churlish attitude taken elsewhere would not prevail.
  9. You have still got that weather Sorry to hear about the damage; gutting, but can be fixed.
  10. That really is a great looking ship Clive. The fit out inside looks superbly done. Are you really going to hire her out
  11. I would have thought one of the Broads too in that case Mark.
  12. OK so picking this up from where I left off.... the QDJ Flotilla. Arrived at Shotley on Friday evening to find the wind increasing the forecast for Saturday night was even stronger although it was supposed to ease slightly by early afternoon Sunday. It was touch and go on Sunday but all involved decided we needed to do our bit so some 20 odd boats locked out in a strong North Easterly (No mean feat in itself) and mustered off the posts until all were out and proceeded up river. As usual despite the Orwell/Stour confluence being 'sloppy' it soon flattened out up river. All boats were dressed and some were even playing patriotic music We cruised down to Royal Harwich which was the turn point, I am not sure which one of our yacht club had arranged this but RHYC did not seem impressed that we had to go through their dingy race twice mind you if you will race in the navigation what can you expect By the time we got back into the lock from a very lumpy Harwich harbour (Strong NE wind against ebbing spring tide) the sun had come out for us. Sadly my camera died (now resurrected) so I got very few shots however Carron did I have 'pinched' a few to give you a flavour of the day. Binkys prop is giving a bit of grief so given the weather Phil & Carron 'blagged' a lift on Kingfisher which was probably the most sensible move of the day. Kingfisher with Royal company And on Kiki The weather was grim before the sun though It was raining so hard we just left the fenders stowed on the decks as it was a 'chug' up the river. In the evening we had a 1950's street party upstairs in The Shipwreck complete with Skiffle Band and period dress On Monday evening Shotley joined in the Beacon lighting A generally wet and cold weekend but the best made of it.
  13. Some footage of this on Harwich RNLI site which shows the size of the seas and transfering crew member onto the Yacht http://www.harwich.org.uk/ Go services then 2012 then scroll down to 080612 then click the video Prize for spotting the Lobster Pot
  14. They were Dutch Rod Yep I have an annual Offshore Membership but look to put any loose change from a round in The Shipwreck in the 'tin'. Not that lately there seems much change from folding
  15. Thanks for the photos Trevor, where did you find that weather
  16. From the Aldeburgh RNLI site: Some Stunning images Well done guys - makes you happy to pop some money in the tin
  17. It is worth a watch. Its not much better weather just a bit further south of you. I admit to looking at the weather this weekend and deciding to catch up on some home based jobs. It will be the first weekend on the boat we have missed in weeks. Better to get things done in poor weather so that when the good arrives (if it ever does) we can make the best of it.
  18. Very sorry to hear that Karen, glad you are both OK. Regards to you both.
