  1. we have one mooring which would be suitable in Horning Marina , side on. £63 fer foot per year inc VAT. if you don't like it we will refund any unused months
  2. then there were the lot who complained that we didn't !
  3. we use to break the ice round the yard (and up river to sutton if I was bored) but the marina owners said the boat owners complained that we pushed the ice into their hulls so we don't do it now..
  4. Hey Timbo, Sorry to read of your sad news.
  5. I am not sure what the hikes on the sailing boats are exactly but I do know the cost of running a boat like Raisena is not cheap, especially as the engine HP is over the limit to be classed as an auxiliary therefore attracting a full toll. a carbon mast or any rig is not cheap, ours was courtesy of our insurance company, a lot of hard work from all the owners, and a lot of favours called in. Im not quite getting your point though Peter, you are saying sailing is expensive , motor boats are expensive and the cost of toll is nothing to fret over? in which case i suppose you are right but perhaps it is the way the money is spent which is the problem, not the amount.
  6. I try and look after all my customers, so I think your comment about biting the hand that feeds is a bit wrong but purely your opinion. The new boats are very popular and as a percentage of hire/value you are correct that it is not a massive amount but a 35 year old boat of the same size which may only do 12 weeks at left than half the weekly tariff is a different kettle of fish. I also like sailing but think the sailing boat toll is not exactly expensive am i a traitor in all directions? Please note that day boats have had a decent increase too.
  7. yes we have to pass it on which is why it is an issue, it makes the destination look unattractive to the new customer. as you may already be aware we also have refuse collection for boats on our yard (as do most other yards) this is used by private boaters and hirers, this is indirectly passed on to the customer too. for example, if i owned a pub / shop with similar products from different suppliers and one beer/ pie was more expensive, then the chances are that unless you were recommended to buy the expensive option then you would save your money.
  8. if this happens at a boatyard then, when the mooring ropes burn and the boats drift across the river then it really gets exciting In my experience on a few when the fire hit the waterline the fire goes out. although we have also had a few which sunk. fire retardant gel coat is only a requirement around the gas locker. I don't know of any forces which have started in the gas locker.
  9. yep we did but there were a few which we had no chance of catching,, it was a really good afternoon, and a great sail.
  10. i should think that with the lack of curtains a blind man would be pleased to see it.
  11. no, but it good to watch the guessing!
  12. fantastic speculation on this thread, sorry I have been quiet, I don't log on much. we do own the river bank, there is no slipway to preserve, the pontoon at Ranworth is old news, we are not speaking with Len about Acle, I didn't like Hunsett mill either.
  13. I never got her finished edited we took her out and I have just stripped her out again, I might have a couple with the kids in and the boat in a mess but they are not great...
  14. Hi, its only Far Horizon and 'Jomaric' which will be for hire from Horning, Far is a small boat with a bow thruster and Jomaric will only be let to experienced crews, BHBF have waived the reciprocal moorings arrangement for this small operation so no fears there. By the way, I have a side on mooring here at horning and a stern on for up to 35 ft, both at £63/ft inc VAT. there are a few in the wet shed for long term or winter cover and a couple of big spaces out side.. (at Stalham)
  15. i can't find my recent pics, this was from last winter, I used her for oulton week and she drew a lot of attention, she won't be cheap but she does not have to be too busy, all customers will be quizzed before booking ! probably £200-£250 per day as many days as you want, plus a bit for linen. she has an electric toilet, nice modern galley, carpets and soft furnishings.. nanni diesel, warm air heating jobs to do finish shower, stop windows leaking!
  16. Although not built for hire we have a new boat to the fleet in 2017. she is a 1949 windboat called 'Jomaric' she was on the water this year but will have further work over the winter to enable her to be available to experienced crews who want to cruise in old fashioned style. to have customers from
  17. get a mini travel cot, they are not mega bucks and it means there is a clean space free from little things to eat so you don't have to watch baby all the time.. I had a 7 monthe baby on a boat last year, only left the boat a few times the whole week as we were mud weighted..
  18. Dad has a great memory (for things 50 years ago!) so he probably would remember you... I took him to Trumans yard a few years ago when they were giving away the old Crane they had, (i should have taken it, it was the one from Albatross Marine) he was amazed that 'little Nicky Truman' was not wearing shorts as he was only a youngster when he last saw him.. ! he would go round the yards collecting the pin badges! We also tracked down Arthur Wigg who he had not seen for probably 40 years, he went round and banged on his kitchen window, poor fella was basically blind but he recognised dad straight away from his voice, funny old conversation.. bang bang bang... Who is it? its me! Bobby, what you doing here?! come in, I can't see, you got someone with you?
  19. Peter, Did you know my old man then? Things must have changed in 1958 when he moved his 35 boats north? I have heard him talk about your father..
  20. a mould was made a couple of years ago off an old Kathleen from Maycraft.. similar thing.. not sure where that is now ...
  21. I think you are probably right, I never knew she was in there but that would make sense.. we put a new transom in her last year and also a fair bit of planking, ..
  22. I used Sea Earl throughout 2014 as my own cruiser, I don't think there are any other AG Ward boats on the broads, she was a lovely boat to have, I would have kept her if I did not have Broadsventure...
