  1. That's what I was asking but the article only deals with steel boats. Does an anode fitted to a grp hull have to be bonded?
  2. We have decided to have anodes fitted as we spend quite a bit if time in saline water. Aluminium ones seem to fit the bill for both saline and fresh water... but do the anodes need to be bonded to the prop/rudder?
  3. Tilda and Gertie, Hi from Jim Yes, I too prefer Adnams Bitter to all others and I'm lucky that my master doesn't mind sharing his! Woof! Woof!
  4. Well, you would be well upset if I bring Jim into a pub you're being miserable in! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5l5Fhb6HlM
  5. And be moored up for a beer tomorrow (Sunday) lunchtime!
  6. Hi, FerryMan and welcome aboard from us! We'll be passing you tomorrow at about 13.00 and will be sure to wave!
  7. Trelaig, Hi and welcome aboard from us... Your only problem with Gt Yarmouth is that it's likely to be mega-crammed during the school hols... both on the moorings and in town/the beach. Personally I would by-pass it and head towards Norwich where the Southern rivers will be far less crowded. Then get the bus/train into GY from Reedham/ Cantley or Norwich. All the pubs on the Broads have somewhere where you can walk your dog and the Southern ones tend to have more space.... in general.
  8. Ah, the joys of the young.............
  9. Gosh, Paul... that takes me back to a passage we made from Salcombe to Brundall many years ago in our newly purchased Freeward 30 Motor Sailor... we could make 6kts under power and we did stop off in Ramsgate for a couple of beers! I recollect it took us about three days and nights... Yes lots of boredom but, by golly, we did enjoy ourselves!
  10. Now THAT sounds really scary to me, Lori!
  11. Lorri, Hi Or they could be steel but I expect all private boats would vey quickly emmigrate!
  12. David corrected.... that is a first!!!
  13. I seldom swear............. But what a BLOODY pity it doesn't ever stick OPEN.............
  14. She looks a pretty trim craft! Here's the Met Forecast for Wed: Wed 29Jun Day Sunny 20 °C N 9 mph gust20 mph Excellent Night Partly cloudy 11 °C WNW 8 mph Very Good And the tide tables show slack water at GH 16.22 but I always try for an extra half hour on top so that you get a good push up Breydon!
  15. MD, welcome aboard! Just a quick question... what sort of boat is she?
  16. It is interesting to follow Rod's "Dongle access points" and when we were recently up North I kept a tally of free wifi-available pubs. I have BTOpenworld/FON as I am a BT customer; so I have included places where I picked them up onboard: Coltishall Red Lion Wroxham Tap Horning Staithe (BT) Ranworth Maltsters Ludham Kings Arms Ludham Dog Neatishead White Horse Stalham Swan Sutton Staithe Hotel Wayford Bridge Hotel Dilham Cross Keys Acle Bridge Inn Down South there are: Surlingham Ferry Oulton Broad BT and Lady of the Lake Norwich Compleat Angler
  17. You certainly get about, guys! Perhaps the "South" bit should be left out?
  18. I don't agree at all. I have unlimited time to idle along at 1400rpm regardless of time constraints... (about 5mph through the water) with little wake. On the contrary some places suggest a week of 5-8 hour days which I would never dream of attempting... recently, in Norwich, I asked a hirer where he was next bound for... "The far reaches of the Northern Broads" to paraphrase his reply!
  19. Gosh! You've certainly stretched your neck out with that one!!!
  20. WHEN CONNED BY PRATTS...(not necessarily because they're broads cruisers)
  21. rich, if you take the time to read my original post correctly it was NOT about "GRR damn speeders " but about private boats being just as likely to cause aggravation as hire boats... I was trying (obviously unsuccessfully with you) to take away the false idea that all speeders are hirers...
  22. They quote a wake/wash height of 12ins against the shore...
