  1. We had a lovely day (and night) at Coldham Hall on Wednesday. We spoke at length with Natalie and George about the meet. Here's their normal menu and the Specials will be printed by next Thursday. I've asked them to put rib-eye steaks on it for you carnivores....... CH Main Menu.pdf When the Specials are finalised I'll then ask for you all to e-mail Natalie with your orders for the night... then no confusion..............

  7. Emma, Hi So glad you enjoyed your renewal with the Broads! And a very warm welcome aboard from us!
  8. Thanks, Gav, and a timely reminder to all those who are "still thinking about it"! Roll-up! Roll-up! For the last event of the Year! Let's have your names, please!
  9. I had a Loadmaster when I used to fly who had exactly the same problem with a neighbour's cat and dog! And he had a little 3-year old daughter at the time... Repeated requests to his (next-door) neighbours failed and so..... he went round to their house one early Sunday moorning and "performed his ablutions" on their doorstep.... Not surprisingly the offending cat and dog were thenceforth kept under control...
  10. She was built in '79, Jim and we bought her 3 years old. She had the cleanest engine bay I've ever seen, then or since and I soon found that Volvo car engine parts were very much cheaper than Volvo Marine (and identical!) to service her! We spent quite a bit on extras but the pics in your link show what can be done with a 30+ year old boat!
  11. Jim, Hi Quite so, Howard! And in the early part of the year the transit from Stalham or Acle can take up two days each way, which leaves precious little time for the South. We moor at the WRC and next week our itinerary will be as follows: Oulton Broad (lots of good pubs and close to Lowestoft) Reedham (Village Staithe or Reedham Ferry) Loddon Brundall/Surlingham (Coldham Hall/Surlingham Ferry) Thorpe Norwich (2 nights but not Thurs-Sat!) Back via Surlingham/Brundall (depending on which we did up river) Of course there's lots of other stopovers which I've missed but the above will keep us happy for up to 10 days!
  12. When we left Brighton we called in at Shoreham for petrol.. then onto Rye, where we dried out in the inner harbour. Next day it was Ramsgate bound... via Dover in an increasing F5-6... Arriving in Ramsgate we were offered two very large G&T's by an impressed 40ft yotti who had been waiting a few days there for the weather to abate. Then straight to Bells at Brundall... by which time our son had given up any pretensions he ever had for cruising! Then there was the next year and Holland bound... but that's another story!
  13. Martin, Hi Yes, I'm convinced she was ours... I posted a reply to Jim's last but it's gone into nether-space! The name lettering is definitely the same! So here goes again... We bought her in '82 for £6000 in Dartmouth and she had a Volvo 6-cyl 175 bhp petrol engine. She was a bit small for Mary-Jane and me and the three kids! We kept her until '895 and sold her for £7,500... so the reg fits in! She was built in '79 and is great to see 32 years later looking so smart.
  14. Hi, Jim We sold her on in '85 so I'm afraid I can't help there. Here's a couple of pics of her:
  15. Lori, Hi Back in '46 my parents brought me down to the Norfolk Broads for the first of many happy fortnights over the following years. The first boat was a small wooden, petrol-engined boat which I recall was named Gypsy Maid (or was it Moth?). Mary-Jane and I bought our first boat, a 23ft Fairline Holiday Mk1 in 1982, down in Dartmouth. We brought it back, via the Channel Isles, to Brundall with the 3 children onboard. I was quite brave/foolhardy in those days and thought little of launching forth from Alderney to Brighton in a F4/5..... sadly, our children have never been too interested in boating since...
  16. And in fact we did go to Coltishall earlier this year after a night in The Shed!
  17. Howard, Hi I'm blaming my wife and daughter for this! (They took me down to the Pub for the night) At 7.30 when I posted that I probably wasn't at my brightest and thought it was a notice for Potter Pilots...
  18. What a shower you lot are..................
  19. Howard, Hi So are there NO pilots for private boats?
  20. And they had the prop turning............
  21. Clive, Hi Sorry we won't be able to meet up but we're not out on the Southern Broads until the 8th Sept. Anyway, have a great time!
