  1. A Warm Welcome Aboard the good ship NBN from us, Helen!
  2. A Warm Welcome to the five new members in the last three days! Please let's hear from you in 'New Members say Hi'.
  3. Viking, hi. You must have missed this post I put in the "Iain" thread: On 29/12/2016 at 0:26 AM, andy said: What about asking Richardson's to name one of their new boats after him I have just spoken with Ruth at length and of all the suggestions we have had this one overcame her with happiness.
  4. May I add to that, please, Griff? Just awesome, Grendel, I marvel at your expertise and patience!
  5. Grendel, Hi Your feet give a good idea of the scale of this, don't they?
  6. Jeff, Hi. I did just that and here it is............
  7. Jeff, Hi. Apart from Jonzo and Eric the other two mods either own or share boats and when we talked this through (which ended last night) our collective idea was to open the suggestion to all. We have so many hiring Members that it was thought that someone may have better contacts than we do. Please feel free to make any suggestions and we'd perhaps better start a new topic?
  8. I think that Howard means £60K PER YEAR, Peter! You don't get a prime pub for 4k a year.
  9. Members opinions will always be listened to, Neil, by all of us. But we are not an advisory company and hence really don't want hearsay. Your thoughts do count but please leave some anonymous person's out.
  10. In our first boat we went to York from Buccaneer Boats in Brundall. The boat had been built for us in the yard next door to Buccaneer Boats back in '80. She was a Colvic 30 CC and we'd taken her out for sea trials at Gt Yarmouth just a couple of weeks early. Big problem... she wouldn't get onto the plane and the engine wouldn't rev high enough. So they "cropped" her prop but to no avail and we later found out that they'd fitted the wrong gear box, a 2:1 instead of a 1.5:1 (or was it the other way round? Perhaps I'd better write this up elsewhere as it's quite a long and potentially tragic story................
  11. Sorry, Eric, I've got to give it my (last) say: "However, i have heard from a very reliable Norfolk gentleman that although the boats always look amazing, the family are not very nice to deal with". Neil, your comment is purely hearsay and may even be thought defamatory. We really don't need that at the moment, please. So come on peeps, let's follow Eric's excellent advice.
  12. Ian, Hi. Here's their latest newsletter and details of how to donate: First draft plans for the refurbished Lifeboat station are now underway to future proof the service for the next 20-40 years. Preliminary planning is already advanced with the architects and we hope to go to planning by the end of the year. The crew are fundraising at every given day hoping that we will be able to fund the £300,000 project within 2 two years. The need for the refurbishment is to enable the service to upgrade its Inshore Lifeboat and launching vehicle to meet the demanding safety regulations facing the service by supporting and reflecting the professionalism of the crew This exciting project will also serve as a community hub for water safety training and education for local schools and businesses Hemsby Lifeboat was formed as a voluntary independent lifeboat service 40 years ago, and are not part of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) nor do we receive any funding from them or the Government even though we provide the same service, and are all governed by HM Coastguard as part of UKSAR None of our volunteers receive any remuneration, and we depend entirely on the generosity of the public to keep this vital service afloat If any businesses or members of the public are interested in sponsoring or donating, and be part of this vital lifesaving project please contact: Dan Hurd (Coxswain) on 07717 577575 We are looking at a completion date for the refurbished station to be in the summer of 2018
  13. We do to an extent, Peter, at our Meets. They come along to pass on their knowledge, are particularly helpful with advice on Life Jackets and members tend to donate what ever they can afford to them. We're hoping that they will be at Salhouse and/or Beccles this coming season.
  14. Hear! Hear! Well said both of you!
  15. That's fine, Howard, but I'd like to ask that we first read the Team's comment on your "Royalls" thread just now.
  16. You will see that we have temporarily locked this thread and after a fair bit of discussion amongst the Team we would suggest that a careful re-read our Guidelines may be appropriate when we unlock it. We do accept that everyone has a right to an opinion but we need to tread a careful line and keep within them. (the Guidelines). Please let's keep within our friendly reputation, peeps!
  17. Hello guys. Please don't forget that it's the Spring Meet at Salhouse the w/e 19/20/21 May. All are welcome. We still have NBN Burgees for those who want to be noticed a bit more and Brian Wards stock a small burgee pole for them.
  18. A warm welcome aboard the good ship NBN from us, Pottermill!
  19. What you don't say, Peter, is that only a very tiny percentage voted it Terrible..... Just look at the vast majority who voted it Excellent or Very Good Visitor rating Excellent 559 Very good 152 Average 31 Poor 16 Terrible 36 That's just 5% who thought it Terrible and 2.25% who thought it Poor. 79% thought it Excellent and 23% Good........... I'd be pretty happy either of those figures myself!
  20. It's getting a bit repetitive, I'm afraid, Howard, isn't it?
  21. Six new Members in the last five days........ welcome to you all! Please don't be slow in sharing your thoughts with us.
  22. Lovely Grub, Geoffrey! Would you print out the recipe, please?
