I have just spoken with Ruth at length and so far she has been unable to visit the Forum but will do after the funeral. I did tell her about all your outpourings of love, admiration and affection for Iain; she was so happy, I can tell you. Iain's funeral is next Tuesday, 10th of January but it is to be a private affair because of the huge numbers of friends and admirers that Iain had. I'd like to suggest that we all raise a toast to him on the day. To all of you who want to send a card I will give you Ruth's address via a PM, please PM me. One of Iain's favourite charities was in the town of Troon where he lived and donations to the Troon Lifeboat would be appreciated.

Hi, Carole. We started to take down our decorations yesterday and we prefer to do it a bit at a time (to be finished by 12th Night) so that the rooms don't look so bare. We went into the Hockham Eagle one night and it was festive and really well decorated and then........ the next night it's back to bare bones... quite a shock really. However, each according to their wishes and mine is......... Happy New Year to You!

Some of you will remember Jim Redford our terrier cross who died a couple of years ago. He was an ideal boat dog or Schippershond as the Dutch would say..... We got Jim when he was 6 weeks old one Saturday morning and took him straight into the Hockham Eagle where the ladies descended upon him and took him for a drink............... of Adnams Southwold bitter! He spent the rest of his 14+ years drinking the tops off my pints......

With the deepest regret I have to report that Iain died on Christmas morning. He had been five weeks in hospital. I am in contact with his family; further details soon.
