We start our voyage to the Summer Meet this evening at about 19.30hrs, when we head for Friday Girl at Brundall. (We can't go earlier as a friend is coming round to house and dog-sit for us but he's in Arundel until 14.00 today....). Slack Water at Reedham is about 07.30 tomorrow so it's an early start for us which should put us into Beccles before 11.00. We like to spend a couple of days there and will hope to meet up with some old chums. Then it's down to OBYS early Friday morning to greet the crews as they arrive... it's looking like some weekend!

We used to often fly into Prestwick in the 80's and 90's and when Ayr was full HeavyLift would send us to Largs for rest. We used to go into Macaulays for breakfast at 6am sharp and I was most surprised to see a very old wee man drinking nips & halves of heavy at that time. I asked the barman about him and was told: "He's Tommy, the Bard of Ayrshire" "Oh, he writes poetry does he?" I asked......... "No, he's been barred from every other bar in Ayrshire..................
