  1. Mid to late May would give you a chance to meet everyone at the Spring Meet at Salhouse at the beginning of your hols, Jean! Spring Meet, 2017 13th/14th May weekend Slack Water Gt Yarmouth is early morning or evening, not too good, John. 20th/21st weekend SW GH is midday, much better! So I propose that and here's the list: Friday Girl, John, Mary-Jane, Neil & Karen, Stern, Fri-Sun
  2. Have a Great day, Alan... we'll toast you in the New Inn at lunchtime! (and this afternoon... we've got a choice of Bombay Sapphire and Tanqueray today!) What a pity that Alex and Lorna have departed the South!
  3. Very interesting, Jean and it throws up the old apple of who goes where, when and whom they meet! Mary-Jane and I have never had anything but excellent courteous service at the Acle Bridge and would rate it higher than you do. In fact on our 10 days North around the Spring Meet it was the best place we ate at! But that's just our personal opinion and you certainly seem to have had an overall enjoyable week!
  4. Those are Hawks, Vaughan. Gnat Hawk
  5. I well remember the Cod Wars with Iceland (which we also lost). The gunboat Thor attacked our trawlers and our noble leaders caved in. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cod_Wars
  6. I admire your style, Lady!
  7. Well I can say that it's some time in the last 37 years, Peter, as the Reds started flying the Hawk just as I left HMFC in 1979!
  8. A Warm Welcome Aboard from us, Al. I would moor overnight at Burgh Castle as you will be fighting a strong flood all the way to the Bure.
  9. Although SW is posted as 12.34 it really isn't until about 13.00 if you want a really good push across Breydon. I allow 2 hours from Acle to GHYS. With the flood you'll get a good 6mph throttled back, even on Neaps. Have a Good One!
  10. 7 or 8 tons, even at 6mph is a lotta ke, Popps!
  11. Neil and Karen are due back early Wednesday morning or Tuesday night; so you might well meet up with them, Alan.
  12. Can't you just let a bit of old meat rot in an big tin outside to get lots.. I'm sure that's how my Dad used to get ours...........
  13. I was out in Malta, at RAF Luqa, with my Buccaneer, for an aerobatic display. The Red Arrows duly arrived and we had a monumental drink-up in the Officers' Mess until about 3am. The 'Arrows had been invited to fly over Valetta at 9am that same morning and they did...down the streets in between the houses. One even took a TV aerial with him!
  14. The rules were still there, Peter, the minimum height was 100ft agl . We just didn't choose to obey it and very few bosses insisted on us doing so....
  15. We'll be about next weekend, Fri-Mon, if anyone fancies a meal at Sonia's?
  16. I thought that the proviso "except between 8pm and 8am" was put into that somewhere?
  17. I know that quite a few of us enjoy watching the Red Arrows and I found this old documentary of their '72 visit to Canada and the USA. Now these guys were seriously good and very, very low! Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6xCbeY6HjE
  18. Well Done, Charlie! But be careful now that The Wench is onboard!

  20. OK, Paul, have done. We'll be at Beccles on Wed/Thurs nights if you fancy a pint! (Will you three be up for an Indian in the evening?). Alex & Lorna, Slack Water GH on Sunday is 09.00hrs so you could be with us by 12.30hrs with a following Spring Tide. (I'm sure one or two more could be persuaded to wait for you!) Inge, you wouldn't be drinking G&T on your own anyway! Here's the latest (and we'll all be on the floating pontoons unless anyone specifically asks for the concrete): (Boat Name, Crew name(s), Stern/Side, Leccy Y/N, Days) Friday Girl, John ,Mary-Jane, Rachel & Graham, Stern, Y, Fri-Mon Fair Chancellor 1, Eric, Chloe & Skye, Stern, Y, Sat-Sun. 21. Welcome Aboard from us too, Gareth.
  22. Done that, Charlie. Andy, I'm afraid that James can be rather dogmatic unless any volunteers? John, are Lucy and you coming to the meal?
