  1. And don't forget the airborne version of Ray's maritime one... a thick slice of corned beef!
  2. What a dis-spiriting tale, Bob. We really do feel for you and agree that these sort do need reporting to Broads Control (Mon-Fri, 09.00-17.00) and perhaps Broads Beat. Stuart (Wildfuzz) might comment on this, please? With other peeps' advice here I've recently bought a dashboard camera which also has a G-sensor. Whether a bump from another boat will activate it is yet to be determined; however it does have a motion sensor and will record when motion is detected.
  3. Great story, Alan. looking forward to the next installment! :clap
  4. YES! I just can't imagine how you have the will power... does it include beer too?
  5. Mark Bird posted this article a couple of years ago and I should think that they're all quite similar. Now that we use low sulphur diesel they shouldn't need this level of attention so often.
  6. Andy not only sponsors the NBN but also offers a discount to pump-outs.
  7. What a great present to you, Neil... you must be well proud! :clap
  8. Or me, Grace, in an early home built (by me) motor boat when the throttle bowden cable jammed in reverse!
  9. A very interesting post, Ian, and one which deserves careful consideration. Let's please NOT let it degrade into an "Us & Them" tiresome thread............. Thanks.
  10. I think that was put up by the young trainee fast-jet pilots at RAF Valley!
  11. We used to watch her in "Blind Date" every week..... what a lovely person she was. Cilla.
  12. Hey, Geoff, hope all's OK up there in Donny.
  13. It makes me wonder why anyone would wish to go North at this time of the year if they don't have to...
  14. Beautiful pics, Eric, glad you're well again and ditto Mark's comments!
  15. On our last two forays North we've used exactly that and the Rangers haven't mentioned payment... I just say that I'm "waiting for the tide".
  16. Ah... "tongue in cheek" comes to mind! :naughty:
  17. Anyone remember the old "ducking stool"? "Cucking and ducking stools, a method of punishment by means of humiliation, beating, or death. The cucking stool (also known as a “scolding stool” or a “stool of repentance”) was in most cases a commode or toilet, placed in public view, upon which the targeted person was forced to sit—usually by restraint, and often while being paraded through the town. The consequences of the ducking stool were far more severe. In use in England by the 17th century, the apparatus consisted of a wooden or iron armchair onto which the culprit was strapped. The chair was attached to a long wooden beam, usually located alongside a pond or river, and was lowered into the water. Repeated duckings routinely proved fatal, the victim dying of shock or drowning". Perhaps that's going a bit too far?
  18. I can only think it was done from the river, Andy? (Unless there's a footpath right alongside).
  19. I can see how, if you stop concentrating, that you might stray outside the channel markers. But at right-angles to them? :shocked
  20. Keep an eye on Lidls, they do Canadian lobsters at a fiver from time to time. Not exceptionally big but OK for one person!
  21. I'm quite amazed you get the time off for such trivial things, Jon! :naughty:
  22. It's difficult to believe how relaxed (relapsed!) you both were last weekend, Alan...... Ah, the resilience of youth!
  23. Let's just hope that this doesn't put off potential new hirers from coming here. That's my concern.
