  1. This link is worth a look also https://www.miniatur-wunderland.com/
  2. For the so called CAPITAL of the Broads it sadly lacks moorings for hirers I think. There are so many craft now that cannot get through the bridge. Yes there are the yards there, but often when I checked Barnes Brinkcraft on Cam, their craft took up the moorings available. The moorings outside the Kings Head were in a very poor state last October, not a mooring ring or post anywhere to be seen. The collection point for Pilot going through the Bridge is also not the best solution, IMHO. I am quite sure mooring a boat at Wroxham for privateers will cost a pretty penny. But a few more Public ones would be made welcome I am sure.
  3. It use to be tight Samuel at end of Navigation there, but I am sure I read somewhere there are a few moorings at the Boatyard. I've not been up there for a few years now, the old knees don't fancy the walk to the pub n back now.
  4. Lori maybe my eyesight is iffy O^O¬ but do I see Blonde hair in your Avatar? Iain.
  5. Awe luverly breed of dog. My late mum had a Pembroke(Prince Llewelyn) he was a smart cookie. He had to be lifted on and off the boat, the wee short legs were never designed for boats lol. Ours survived till well over 14.
  6. If you were sitting in the garden at The Commodore in OB looking over to the right hand corner, that is where Hampton Boats was.
  7. They used to say that it was the curse of the drinking classes................. Nah am Tea Total....Now lol I was very ill over a year ago, and made up my mind to be back on the Broads last September, and I did! I cannot fly yet, (Arms get sore trying) So I am more than happy to drive the 400 plus miles down to Norfolk. This being retired is strange though, I can never find time for all the things I wish to do. Iain.
  8. Awe Gracie I am really sorry lol I had to wait 50 years to say that ! The retired bit not the sorry! Iain.
  9. Errr whats work? I have now been officialy retired 5 weeks! Yippeee!
  10. Wroxham Bridge I have been going through for just under 40 years. My avatar is the first boat I hired from Porter & Haylett "SunGlory" After 10 mins max instruction I had to negotiate Wroxham Bridge, Perhaps the shock of never doing it before and knowing I had to do it I stood up aimed for the keystone and bobs yer uncle I was through no problem. I think maybe that is why I have never had a problem with bridges, although I do respect them and the craft I hire. The pics attached were of Silver Gem 4 I brought back through the bridge on a highish tide in the days before a Pilot was there.
  11. Its a Samsung Galaxy111 Mini I have. Does all I require on it. Says he....help! lol Iain.

  15. 1:- Whits pocket money? 2:- Who signed for the mortgage? 3:- Frank, it sounds like you've suffered in silence for 38 years just like me! lol Ladies canny bowl a cricket ball at 90mph. I rest my case! Then run like hell!!!!
  16. I was approx £130 in petrol in October 2013 to come down for a weeks cruising. In the 80's I did three trips a year for probaly less than that amount!
  17. Distance was the reason I never bought a boat. Thought long and hard about it in early nineties, but just not a goer. Living that close Frank, I too would be out at every opportunity!
  18. No more updates till Easter then Jon Work comes first! I should know, I was self employed for over thirty years. So get on wi yer work!!! Nah, brew up and keep yer typo skills up!
  19. Oh defo sounds like a mobile allotment! Have fun!
  20. One of my favourite watering holes that was. Pint in hand sitting outside watching the Pilots from Hoseasons and Blakes show off their skills!
  21. I have no idea how BSC works, but hope all the hire yards are properly tested. I had to deal with the NIC for ECA for decades, and every year their inspector had a different interpretation of what was acceptable and what was not, right down to having to use dome headed screws in conduit boxes for fixing! I always wonder about the MOT though. Thankfully not a worry for me, as I get a new car every three years. The joys of regulations!
  22. Nah am not slumming it really lol. Just felt like a change and avoid the Broads version of the M25 at take over. Panic not Mr Richo sir I shall return! As for the windows....err yes. Siddy bring a Cordless Jigsaw you may need it! Oh sorry, Mr Richo is trying to get an offer off a well known Double Glazing Co. He may have to climb a Mountain though to get a good price ! Seriously, as I said, lovely boat, and my type these days, all on one level!
  23. Just me Siddy, am enjoying this new freedom of retirement and have always loved a laugh. Being a ex foreman you had too! lol Have a great holi on that cruiser am jelous lol I have 76 days till I am back on the Broads. But am slumming it on a boat from Herbert Woods ! Regards, Iain.
  24. Full modern air conditioning too Siddy....NO sliding roof....yet! Bet she will be brill when completed.
  25. Hi Frank, I have one close to my boiler, it was replaced over a year ago as it starts bleeping once the batteries are getting flat. Last approx 3 years. I do agree with you that all detectors have improved over the years. They are not that expensive either. You can't put a price on safety.
