  1. Believe it! or not i actually washed the leg and chew toinight.........could this mean the original crews will be on the southern waters tommorow!!.....be carful out there .......very careful!!.....spilling misakes and all!!
  2. Good luck John , you have been an inspiration to people on this forum ,bringing a lifetime of experience ,and balanced views ,i think we would all hope that you could continue to be a part of nbn ,as a mod ....(insert the the who) ,,,,all the best you old mucker!
  3. We did it a year ago, watch out for the relatives!! free holidays!, for them, best of luck
  4. All of the above....always up for a laugh ,will miss her banter.photo idea great!
  5. Saw a woeman once with a fan heater running on the quay, in summer........................
  6. Don,t ride it past my place , i am considering a cheese wire across our road, nothing personal, but we do have a problem with over enthusiastic ,middle aged men on bikes speeding past , at weekends ,no objection to anyone having a good ride, but one sports bike can be heard coming for miles and going away, a village is not out in the country.....there are houses there!!
  7. i said dearer, than the old system, was for 3 boats
  8. On the way back up the Chet we were met by two Liverboard boats, on was being towed and straight across the river! that was us in the reads!, i don,t know where they were from but Loddon watch out! (have they all left thorpe green yet?) Nice to see speed out on Lightening ,been held up by the above!
  9. Just had our first trip out this year, as have been busy with our new house this year, had a very pleasant weekend at Loddon, We had a new crew member!! pictures soon, The new electric cards were a great hit!! not !expensive compared to the old system.
  10. Just spent the night at Loddon.......the shop has run out of cards! great, a friend had some from last week so we put 3 boats on a post, cost of one night £3 pounds 20 pence......yes its dearer than the old system.
  11. We have done one or to night nav.s the main problem was the windscreen , due forming on the out side... the screen is about 8feet by 5 feet in a single span , so wiping that is a pain, wipers only a foot long!! took the canopy off in the end and eyeballed it open top! the dark wasn,t a problem , it was when we came to somerlaton bridge you just couldn,t determine where you should be!!
  12. If you were to get todays riders and drivers to ride or drive the machinary of John Surtees day, not only would they not be able to do it, they would`nt be able to control these very basic machines. RIP John.o don,t know about that really , put john in a current f1 car he would be lost, to the point he would n,t get it moving, a current fi driver drives a high spec road car ,supplied by his team , and they all started with a go kart, basic skills are learnt early but are still the same as driving a 1100 cc road car, push it to it,s limit, finding that limit and keeping it there lap after lap is what makes a great racer , old or new, comparisons are irrelevent imho
  13. https://youtu.be/wYITFA1bzG8 watch this, a true racer............RIP
  14. Honest opinion................ i hate it, looks like a graphic from a music player, and as for the text....mission statement from badly run large company , put together by 8 people in 5 mins , and expect to be paid all day, sorry there ,s no subject in it , as said the broads should feature more.I have to put up with this crap from the companies i ve worked for,for years.....only the one,s not actually making money love it ...to justify there unproductive jobs...rant over! well made but sadly naf
  15. Have seen 3 hireboats out this week at st loaves on way to work ,bit bleak looking!!
  16. yeah all ok where,s the buddy chainsaw!!
  17. just got home to this ,our chickens must have charmed lives, (Fritton)j
  18. The long thing with a handle like a funny chisel is a white metal bearing scraper, i last used one those in about 1976 on a large big end bearing ona refrigeration compressor, lots of engineering blue on that job!! The gauges are dial test gauges for checking roundness, or play in a lathe shaft ect.
