  1. you,ll be fine bud , a safety point ,after you change the bottle , test the joint with soapy water ,ie washing up liquid diluted in a cup poured over the nut....simple common sense measures will keep you safe, any problems I,ll help you, I am a gas engineer
  2. post the photo, a butane bottle will not be ok on a propane system, propane is red/orange ,butane is blue ,these gases do not use the same burning pressures, and have different fittings ( the bit that screws into the bottle), sounds complicated but it ain,t,should look like these................. Note the different weights, propane burns hotter, so...you don,t need as much!
  3. Our Crabfat turned a few different colours today but no one was sick. We have told him tomorrow will be worse (it actually will be better) Rotten lot eh? - has to be done though Ginger biscuits......actually worked for the wife!
  4. If you have the mean,s to pump the tank out , visa a pump out like broom,s you will be fine. Our boat has a holding tank ,with an overboard valve, ie sea /or tank, with a deck fitting, that,s a job done, so not a worry
  5. oh sorry, you didn,t mention you had a deck fitting, most sea boats don,t!!
  6. so................how do you empty the holding tank at Brundell?
  7. Can,t see the guy on Brooms holding his nozzle over that being very happy ! ,takes him about 15 minutes to get 35 gallons in my tanks, his arm will drop off!
  8. I have been on that stretch of river in our boat.....flat out over 20 knots, and turned each end on full power, this was when we were on trial run before purchase ,from nya, NYA have trade plates to do this. It,s a long way to Braydon just for a sales run, and that strech of river looks really well, dispite it?
  9. We have a Falcon 27 ,and have had 2 labs on board, it,s a bit tight for space ,and ours loved the water......in it most of the time if you let them, two wet labs in a 27, not good! but enjoyable, ours were very agile so would jumps straight out! when side on mooring. only hav e a small dog now so not so much a problem
  10. Sorry the whole thing s gone pe tong , the best way to be safe with gas on boats is to leave a burner running ,then turn off at the bottle , the gas bottle valve is tested at every fill, so you can trust it , so there will be no /or minute chance with this method, detectors well how much do you want to pay ? I work with them every day , a good tester......£ plus.....recalibration.....250, per year do the math,
  11. The new cooker does have ffds fitted to oven, grill and hob and will always be turned off after use, its more of a piece of mind thing for the wife, it was after the sad events at Wroxham island that worried her and then the boat failed the bss on gas issues, its all been replaced ,we have new gas lines,a new gas locker with drain, its all been passed off but the wife said just because it was all ok on the day it passed doesn't mean it will be ok next week, can't argue with that I suppose, we are fitting new co detector and smoke alarms just looking for something for the gas . you don ,t need any electronic gismo,s to be safe with gas on board, when you finish using the gas , leave a burner running ,then turn off at the bottle , the burner will burn all the gas ,then no gas left, you can trust the bottle tap...its been tested before you get the bottle, otherwise it don,t go out.
  12. Tube heater times two..... 1 times rad heater...... x timer..................it flipping froze when the timer was off
  13. We,ve sat on the bottom at Sonias on a low tide, also hit bottom down the chet at spring lows, used to hit bottom at top of new cut where it meets the yare, before dredging, stir the crap up in Loddon basin, Beccles yatch station ,Wavney river centre ,basin,Rockland broad, and the straithe, very close on Surlingham Broad ,low tides, Max draft of boat, is 3ft 3 , which we are having twin diesels ,NYA keep a 50 footer at Brundle ,for the cruising club ,so it,ll get there. We keep an eye on the tides anyway ,so travel mid tide ,normally
