  1. Is referring to the OP Mowjo... I most certainly would not be amused if someone set me adrift...
  2. As a 'Friend' of Hunters, I should add that there are times when there is not a lot of room - typically when large groups are starting/finishing their week... Lovely mooring though and the best showers on the Broads...
  3. I was planning to get one of those...not so sure now! Sorry you took a dip Pauline!
  4. When we bought OBY, we were made aware of a small amount of water making it's way into the boat... So, after the awful weather we have endured in recent weeks, we thought it best to go and check the boat was OK! Relieved to find that apart from a very small amount in the bilges, she was nice and dry... Also, the outboard was till firmly attached!
  5. You found it amusing??
  6. 10/12 - I got the Blyth and Nar questions wrong!
  7. If you get there, the tea room 'A piece of Cake' is lovely... Just walk up to the main junction...
  8. I don't think there are any significant problems Bob, but others may have advice. You should be able to get up to the Rising Sun...
  9. Someone mentioned Propane/Butane type stoves earlier and rightly commented that they may produce CO on first ignition. They can also be a source of dangerous C) if they are not burning correctly, so it is best not to think if them as 'safe'! We use them on our sailing boat, but we are very well ventilated (cooker is right next to the companionway if we cook inside). I don't plan to fit a CO alarm any time soon, but totally understand why people with more sources of risk and less ventilation would consider this a no-brainer. I was amused by the suggestion that ideally an alarm or detector should be fitted 18 inches above your head height. Well, on a Broads boat, unless you are a midget....
  10. I did that once in a Perfect Lady Yacht, but not with that much ebb! It was not a nice experience and, I am happy to admit, poor seamanship. We survived to tell the tale, but I pulled in to the wall and tied up until the ebb had disappeared. Not sure what you mean by 'we had to ' Robin!
  11. Was there some bod clinging to the top of it, trying to keep his feet dry?
  12. And what would you expect? They also referred to the Broads as the Broads National Park...
  13. Hello all... I have a quiz prepped if anyone wants to pop in and try it? No anagrams this time Polly If anyone else has one prepared, I don't mind...
  14. Well, I watched it... Conclusions (IMHO as they say): Lose Evans - as quickly as possible. He's so rich it won't really upset him much Don't use Jordan too much - he tries too hard... use him for what he is really good at. Which is not humour... YESYESYES get Jensen on board as key presenter alongside Matt Le Blanc It may never be what it was before, but it would help to try fresh new ideas instead of regurgitating the old... So, drop the 'we call him the Stig' routine; the fastest lap board routine with the bits of white paper and unconvincing 'pause for effect'... I might watch again, but even I could be more tempted by the ironing...
  15. And therein lies the problem... The Beeb are still trying to work with that format, which IMHO was already weary... Early on the threesome were a bit different; their non PC schoolboy humour somewhat refreshing compared to the dullness of other similar motoring programmes (including the earliest incarnation of TG... However, the more they tried to live up to their own press and laddish reputations, the more silly, repetitive and unwatchable it became. They always had the potential to be brilliant, both in their perceptions about cars and so on and in their presentation of very well filmed specials. Sadly, they too frequently settled for sniggering mediocrity. Having made the decision to sack Clarkson who, frankly, had it coming, and in light of the others stepping away, the Beeb should have left well alone and gone away to produce something else... Like a motoring show perhaps?
  16. Alison and I have just watched this again and commented on how the landscape is 'the same, yet different'! Easily recognisable landmarks, but much around them has changed. The boats were so much more attractive! I enjoyed his emphasis on the Broads being for all - rather than the all to frequent tensions between one form of enjoyment and another...
  17. Lovely Carol, thanks! Kind regards to you and Kev...
  18. So true Strowager... My Pentax kits languish in a cupboard whilst me cheap Fuji travels everywhere with me! I don't profess to being a great photographer but did enjoy my 35 mm hobby years ago. I could buy a more expensive Digi SLR but the little bridge cameras are so brilliant I can hardly justify the cost!
  19. Fabulous pictures - thanks so much!
  20. I have nothing to declare... There are several here who know my biggest boating blunder - and Charlie knows another, on which occasion he was my Knight in Shining Cruiser...
  21. I was definitely a bit 'twitchy bum' going through there with the mast down the other day. I love getting up the Ant, but Ludham Bridge is no fun!
  22. Keep the pictures coming - some of us are sad not to be there!!
  23. We like Martham... really nice chips whenever we've been there and the fish is always crispy not oily like another place nearby!
