  4. Yes I too enjoyed it, spies notwithstanding. We are planning to be out on Coniston tomorrow, so may make it to Peel(Wild Cat) Island
  5. It would be good to be there next year as part of Brilliant’s 90th Birthday celebrations.

I loved them until I was hit by another car, then I got a safer built car! Our son, David also did his early driving in my 2CV, he says his current Porsche reminds him of the 2CV in terms of driving enjoyment.

I had two 2CVs loved them! You feel like you are in a racing car because generally you drive them hard. But boy are they flimsy in a crash!

Ah... that depends on budget I would say. The top end of Windermere has some lovely hotels with lake view and close to Ambleside which is lovely, BUT they cost. If you are a member of the YHA the Youth Hostel here has the same lovely views. Go further from the beehive of Bowness/Windermere/Ambleside and you will get better deals. The Waterhead at Conison is Ok. Lovely views, a bit dated decor. Sweet garden, from which we were able to launch the dinghy, leading to the lake and a short walk to the Conison Water Centre, boat hire, steamer stop great cafe. On the other side of the Water Centre is a nice campsite run by the council with lake beach. The National Trust is strong up here and they also have camping as well as , most probably, holiday lets at their properties. We hired an old mill north of Kendal a few years back which was cheaper as just outside the NP boundary, in the next hamlet to the one Postman Pat is based in(!) It was wonderful and slept 6 I will pm you the info when I get home if you are interested. For top of the range the Lakeside at the south end of Windermere is first class, but we can’t afford to go there these days! Spring/Autumn is best the place really is too busy in summer when all is said and done.

We just spent the day on and around Windermere. The weather changed from iffy to perfect. Sailies anc stinkies out in force. We are staying on the lake shore up at Ambleside, not cheap but really lovely to look out of the window at the lake. Just going out for fish n chips as you do.
  13. I did wonder if the one we saw was far from home.
  14. This nice Woodie has missed the show.
  15. Ok I will try again: the individual bookings were honoured. The Yacht Station were completely helpful, the members were gracious. The requirement for risk assessments etc that made it in that sense official were not required once we were not turning up with tentage and supporting events. I fail to appreciate the inflation of this issue to a major problem, disappointing, yes, Earth shattering, no. Did we take the decision lightly? No. Are we still giving the matter thought? Yes.
  16. The Summer Meet fell victim to hospital appointments and necessary stepping back from the two members originally in the frame for organising this. It became official at the behest of Beccles YS, not ours. Once there wasn’t a team member to action and monitor the risk assessment Beccles YS made a condition of group booking we changed the status of the event. Individual bookings were honoured by the HM without hesitation and the team was able to step back. It is a disappointment and we are already looking at how to avoid disappointing members next year. It is perhaps timely to remind posters that the team is a voluntary one. The people who actually signed up for the meet were very gracious in the face of the status change.
  17. As long as it's not gas you're ok Long ago there was a movie about a building site where taps did odd things, it was silent and starred 1960s comedians.
  18. The galley looks the biz Tim
