  1. There was a plastic dustbin full of it in the loft, and now our grandson has graduated from Duplo, it was time to get it down and cleaned up for a new generation. The sinks are full, the bowls and buckets likewise so now the technic chassis is having a bath!
  2. Good ideas there, this time of the year is going into low season and quiet after half term, then take your pick, anywhere north or south of Great Yarmouth. Above Potter Heigham Bridge and hiring from Martham would be my choice, as already suggested; the boats are traditional wooden; they don’t cost the earth, but don’t expect mod cons. A nice yard with a friendly welcome. I also like Summercraft Wroxham, lovely boats, and more modern. You have a good cruising area from there too. Colitishall, Horning, Ranworth would fill my weekend withSalhouse, Cockshoot and St Benets on the way. Or head up the lovely River Ant. I’d not try to achieve big distances just savour what you do visit. Be warned, however, the Broads Bug is real and there is no known cure.
  3. But wearing his lifejacket, good boy!
  4. That is a pain! Whale pumps are fine.
  5. This is what happens if you don't buy your license or pay your tolls! We snapped this safety conscious skeleton at Castle Ashby this afternoon. They are gearing up for next week's Pumpkin Hunt.
  6. Sounds hopeful. How good is your bilge pump btw?
  7. Steering a boat isn’t as positive as a car so a play from lock to lock isn’t unusual. Given your concerns, a lift out and time to look into the problem seems wise. Proper boat lift/transport guys should know how to take her out without squeezing the hull. Good luck with the work, and make sure the kids wear life jackets?

    My Day

We had a flying trip to Norfolk. Catching up with Doug and Hele on Nipper was very pleasant, and as we sat over a cuppa, talk moved to Brilliant. I remarked that I needed to get a replacement boom as ours seemed to have fared badly over the summer. I said I'd got a quote from Peter Charlton and had asked for one from Whelptons. I had mentioned the boom on the phone a few weeks ago... "Um..." said Doug, "that boom on your deck, that's not your boom." ?? It turned out that it was Doug's old boom from his half-decker. It wouldn't fit in his garage so he'd popped it on Brilliant's deck. ££ saved and a good laugh over the misunderstanding. We headed back to the hotel for a very nice meal and a good night's rest at The Wayford Bridge Hotel. This morning after a satisfying breakfast we headed to Roys for Christmas Shopping, as you do. Roys Toys is awesome by the way, and I really like the way they avoid the stereotyping that Toys R Us used to slip into. Over at the main shop and there were some multifunction slow cookers on sale, we decided to go with that as an impulse buy it was a good proposition and splashed out £50. More later on that. Over to visit Brilliant where, yes indeed our boom and gaff are in fine condition and stashed on the cabin top. I cancelled our request for a replacement quote, which Annie said had puzzled them at the time as Brilliant's spars were fine. Doh! The roping on Brilliant's, very expensive, shelter broke last weekend, uv has defeated it after only a year, so I will be on the phone to the suppliers tomorrow. We dropped into lovely Fairhaven at lunchtime before heading home;, it really was a beautiful Autumn day! The rain set in on the way home as it had cleared away on the way in the day before, maybe we had a special weather window hovering over Norfolk? At home and unpacking the impulse buy, um, no lid, this meant a long conversation with Roy's to the effect that bringing it back is not ideal as we live 2 1/2 hours away. They are posting me one, I think. Roys are usually great so all should be fine
  9. Whose grandma? Yep we graced the Wayford Bridge rather than the wetshed.
  10. Yes you are allowed to be on here! Get a survey done then you will know what needs to be done.
  11. Afternoon people! We are cavorting in Norfolk tonight so volunteer staff at virtual pub would be great.
  12. Yes, as Griff says, pictures/a bit more detail will help.
  13. Hi Alkemist, welcome! No doubt help will be along soon. Since your cruiser isn’t taking on water, don’t panic, most things are fixable.
  14. Hi Willow, I think photos and more details would be useful.
  15. I think a bit of slack is in order here. Letting things lie is probably helpful. I was in touch via pm throughout and this morning.
  16. I confess to having got my UNICEF Christmas Cards

    Lads Week

Oh yes indeed, and if they are playing "Pass the Parcel'" it might be safest to leave at once if you did venture there!
  18. She is good, very good, so whatever the subtext, I will be watching. Dr Who/Torchwood etc have had public awareness agendas for several series. David Tennant? Awesome!! I have seen some of his RSC stuff too. A great actor.
  19. What I want to know is why in the pic Macie appears to have had an extreme makeover?
  20. We are around on Tuesday evening maybe catch you somewhere?
