  1. It's actually very difficult to either cut services or make them slower due to govement red tape, you can of course add more very easily. In Bicester where I use to live the main A41 London road has a crossing with a station next to it like OB, the track use to be single line to Oxford with the station the correct side of the road hence minimal disruption. 3 years ago the Train operator applied to change the line to duel and link it with the Birmingham to London line. This requires crossing the road and with 3 trains an hour in each direction together with the requirement to close the crossing while the train is in the platform results in the crossing being closed more than its open, it has caused chaos but nothing will change due to the above. The rail system needs a major overhaul but if you look at the state of HS2 it won't be in my lifetime.
  2. Welcome aboard, Not sure many yards would fuel a hire boat without the yards permission, HW might express that the boat is not fuelled elsewhere as they cannot grantee the quality. if you cruise slightly slower you will see more as well as save fuel, win win.
  3. The "Tractor" loco's {class 37} are on hire from DRS while the class 170 and 156 under goes refurbishment, they cannot use them on the Wherry Line as it has short platforms. i actually quite like the sound when it's under power but not standing next to it while it starts up. The class 68's were due to go back after the 170 that hit the tractor near Thetford came back but have been kept on due to a shortage of units.
  4. Sky is only good outdoors in Hickling so expect it to be average
  5. You better hurry up the new bi mode trains start arriving next August.
  6. Do you mean from Oulton Broad ? I'm not sure it runs every hour throughout the day, This service is normally done by the class 68's which does a round trip boosted by a 156 in the peak. I'm not sure we have 6 trains available at the moment.
  7. We have a couple together with a folding table great when the barbie comes out.
  8. Definitely nothing to do with me, I bag first dibs on getting Tim to do my garage.
  9. That's far too tidy you will never find anything.
  10. Am I taking on another apprentice Doug.
  11. End of August produced 16 boats available with Cover Girl costing £2774 for 7 days. OMG. Doug.
  12. It might also be my mumbling Norfolk accent. Doug.
  13. I have one and find it very frustrating, could be my slow internet but it struggles with commands. More of a gimmick than anything. Doug.
  14. Barnes have already got a 20% discount for August along with quite a few other yards. i for one would be a bit miffed if I had booked a top range boat for August at a cost of around £2000 early in the year only to find I could have saved £400 that's most people's spending money. its a dangerous game offering discounts in high season as people will expect them again next year. Will we see more last minute bookings in future. Doug.
  15. I see quite a few yards are offering a 20% discount on hiring during August, also seems to be lots more short breaks on offer. Is it much quieter this year that the yards are struggling. Doug.
  16. Easy one !! Put your bed in the shed and the tools in the flat............sorted.
  17. Oh dear these doors are really being a pain in the rear., not sure what has caused the crack unless it's where the glue has expanded inside the joint. Keep plugging on you will get it in the end. Doug.
  18. The recommended passage time is for the following. Wednesday 16/08. 11.56 am Thursday. 17/08. 13.17 pm Friday. 18/08. 14.37 pm Saturday 19/08. 15.47. Pm The passage time is approx 1 hour after GY low water time. This is the time you should plan to arrive at the yacht station, this gives you maximum height under the bridge and the least amount of tide. You can of course arrive at anytime if the airdraft is not a problem. Im planning to go over on Thursday and you are welcome to join me if you wish. Doug.
  19. Spotted your mistake, tut tut.
  20. Yes you are welcome to join us for a cinc.
  21. Was very nice to see the broads beat officers visiting the stag and hen party boats at Richardsons today to give them a bit of friendly advice. Doug.
  22. We are planning to stop somewhere near Acle or Stokesby on Wednesday with a midday crossing Thursday heading for Oulton Broad for the Powerboat racing then a leisurely sail down to Beccles on Friday. Doug.
