  1. Quick update, If the CAA has not settled the hotel bill by Wednesday they have to pay €180 when they check out on Thursday and claim it back. Fingers crossed the CAA are on the ball. Doug.
  2. Helene has just been told by the hotel that they have to pay for the accommodation at reception or they will be asked to leave the hotel, I guess they are worried they won't get paid. I understand they are forming an action group around the pool to discuss tactics, no point waiting good sunbathing weather lol. will post more when I find out. Tim, Nipper is not suitable for the salty stuff but I know a boat not far away that does like the odd sea trip, I'm sure I can sneak out of the wet shed under darkness Doug.
  3. On the news this morning that Monarch have cancelled all flights from today, Helene is at present in Lanzorte and due to fly home on Thursday with Monarch. Hope they have plans in place to get everyone home safely. Doug.
  4. I think they are removing the spit of land.
  5. Because proper tar is no longer available the stuff you get nowadays is more like black paint.
  6. What's wrong with birds, we had a heron fishing in the wet shed today.
  7. A great little barbecue but the newer cobble stones are not as good as the old ones. It's just a pig to clean we line ours with tin foil first.
  8. Vaughan, I noticed a lot of buildings still on the island particularly around the east end any idea what they are used for now.
  9. The ones that bend will be steamed the ones that break will be barbecued.
  10. who mentioned Ron Pickering !! Warning it contains some swearing.
  11. Come on Pauline a "what's this" and not a bottle of sauce in sight.
  12. Not had the urge to moor at Acle since Pedro's opened we much prefer Upton and the White Horse.
  13. I've got some evostick if you need it Tim.
  14. That's appalling Alan, why did the conductor not state the train was for Yarmouth, the PIS if working should state on the front of the train and also in the saloon its destination. Was it the short set with class 37's or a 156.
  15. Robin, We did turbine washes all the time on helicopters I worked on it was part of the routine maintenance.. When I had a survey done on Nipper the inspector condemned the engine because it had some corrosion, it ran and started fine and all that was needed was a rub down with a wire brush and a lick of paint. He also highlighted that the toilet sea cock was not accessible without breaking your arm in two, I rectified this by replacing the heads floor and moving the access hatch to allow easy reach. Most surveyors will always air on the side of caution and you need to look for yourself to see if things are actually as bad as he reported. Doug.
  16. We had 5 modified, the trouble stems from the fact it runs at a constant speed all the time unlike a truck and was encased in a soundproof box. Then put it on metal wheels and it's not a happy bunny.
  17. We had a Volvo truck engine modified to run a 1000v generator and it was a pain in the backside and proved very unreliable.
  18. Just read on Facebook that LBBY was broken into last weekend, so just a heads up to be extra vigilant as some sumbags could be doing the rounds.
  19. Is it me or is Wild Fuzz now working under cover.. ..
  20. http://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/jobs/current-vacancies Any one interested in a new career.
  21. Crossing time for Thursday is 17-40 so I would go for this and moor at GYYS for the night you won't have to worry about fog on Friday morning then. Remember this is the time to aim to be at the yacht station.
  22. When we went sailing in the Med last year none of the yachts had charts on them, I had taken my own so we were ok. After 3 days the flotilla skipper produced photo copies that were years out of date which we all refused to use. It was another two days before the correct up to date ones arrived. I was gobsmacked that they would let people loose on their own with out of date or no charts at all. Doug.
  23. I hope you revising for the painting and varnishing.
