    My Day

There is some true salts of the earth within the trades Rare day off today but a good mate fitted me a new boiler a few weeks ago - i would have happily paid him but within the circle its a favor for a favor which got re-called today fitting a very heavy woodburner and liner He picked me up on time and whilst on our way to the job his phone went ,i knew by the change in expression he was not happy . we have a detour he said - another plumber has let a old couple down and had left them with no hot water or heating since friday and its now monday . we arrive and the lady of the house is at the end of life stage .my mate swings into action .luckily the boiler is in a out house which makes things easy not only to repair but means we can give everything a good clean down from a covid point job done an hour so later and the gentleman of the house approaches and asks how much ? my mate plays the job down and says " no charge - it was just something stuck " on we go . in the van i say correct me if iam wrong but did you not just fit a new central heating pump then ?.....i did ....but iam so annoyed anyone could leave vulnerable old dears like that all weekend the language was to strong to word on here i know not only have i got a good mate but the trades have too finny
  5. Johnathan Rea from northern Ireland is the current world super bike champion 6 times in row 2015 .2016 .2017 .2018 .2019 .2020 without any recognition- yet still one of the country's most successful He even pays his taxes
  6. Watch every tv advert nowadays .and whilst I have no time for racism or discrimination in any form there is a unnatural desire to accelerate cultural diversity and I believe this knighthood is more to do with bending the knee He lives in the tax haven Monaco ( even dodged vat on his private jet ) works for the germans so my question is how does this man benefit Great Britain enough to gain a knighthood Give it to a waggon driver who has worked through the lockdowns to make sure you and your family had food on the table in the recent hard times because without him you ain't got Jack sh...it Didn't see good old lewis offering his driving skills when the country needed him Finny

Many a true word in jest Peter .........i just hope the human rights lawyers are sharpening their claws i foresee a two tier system emerging not everyone needs vaccination only the vulnerable .i cant put links on the forum but google Dr Mike yeadon ex pfizer, there is no doubt there is a nasty side to this virus but there is a very nasty side in its handling finny

It's not really having any adverse effects on the young many do not even show symptoms that's why many youngsters ain't that bothered about social distancing or wear a mask in public unfortunately it's age discrimination with this disease. The nurses in the family tell me they have been worded up and prepped for a massive go on this front - so watch this space
  15. No sir anyway .......I always address him as.....Mr skinny Dipstick Finny
  16. I held the theory that boat owners - myself at the time became paranoid about how much fuel we have in the tank through a lack of fuel guage to the tune that we would be prepared to stick twigs down the neck filler to make sure it was wet at the other end - personally I think your fuel economy on your type of boat would be fugal and even if you go the great expensive in changing your tank and lines then even with a bigger tank you will always be concerned at how fill your Big is There is a lot to be said in having a skinny dipstick handy finny
  17. Nah I wouldn't bother ...well unless you are planning to sail over and visit Vaughan. You can get from top to the bottom of the broads on a tank .fuel availability isn't a issue and less capacity more turn over will ensure a cleaner fuel system Finny

You used to beat away our winter blues via photography peter Well .....we have a duty to keep you occupied Finny
  19. Every time I have hired on the canals it's been an all inclusive price which is fine - you know where you stand financially and I think Vaughan has touched on something .since selling my boat going back to the convenience of hiring the first place I look and has been for a while is to the all inclusive ferry marine subject to boat requirements or availability Finny
  20. The attention to detail in all this thread is fantastic and I have to doff my cap My spare room is looking more and more with a sense of purpose........shame I dont have the skills to match Finny
  21. Good post ray . "Out of every disaster there is an opportunity " to be exploited .the NHS was always going to be a vote winner and I think we are witnessing a new way in harvesting public finances off it's back track and trace being one of many failed cash cows but that for the sake of the forum is only my opinion. People naturally will judge this virus and its effects inwardly based and there are many sufferers .mental health and secondary illness figures being up there to name a few . Our grandchildren will still be paying the paymaster for this when many of us here have gone and I fear some business and jobs will never recover. If you get this virus and recover then I guess to many then its just the normal flu but here lies the problem there is a very nasty side to this normal flu that takes the weak and vulnerable out so I guess people will make assumptions based on their own experience or at least experience so far Just for the doubters or conspiracy theorists my daughter caught this virus first time spike and transpired nothing more than a mild cold .its not the case second time she is really poorly struggling to breathe .she is 34 fit and extremely healthy her job is in environmental health currently educating or enforcing business that wont comply in the name of public safety .I could go but I wont Anyway let's get back to the more important" The marina gates are locked " Finny
  22. Iam seriously considering going outside in my best wellies and boxer shorts and doing a snow dance over the moor - what you have to do to get a day off these days Finny
  23. Easy for any of us to say Ian - but try to stay positive. You have been through the mill and time in your case is the best healer Finny
