  1. Sorry to hear that Iain. Yes it does make you wonder if electrically adjustable, heated and folding are really that necessary when you break one and get the bill. Or worse, some slime bag does it for you.
  2. The parts of this show presented by Michael Buerk are very well done. The M. Lipman and L. Lamb are a bit dumbed down for my taste.
  3. Maybe they will buy them as they own, or will own everthing else and turn it into a Carp Farm.
  4. Sounds a good product. But a serious question, what is it's fire rating? Is the plastic fully retarded?
  5. Thanks Peter, excellent download to have as you drive around.
  6. Before the internet was widely available to all, the EDP was excellent on a Friday for it's property pages, if you were house hunting. With Rightmove, Zoopla etc. I often wonder what is it's use? You are not allowed to pack fish & chips in it these days.
  7. I think it is called entertainment. It is supposed to entertain hundreds of thousands who have never been to any of the destinations or even have any desire to do so. You can't look at it like a documentary. Yes, there were many 7mph stretches back then.
  8. Very easy to say Marshman, when if like me, you are sat in a quiet North Norfolk village. Not so easy if your hard earned home is forever to be blighted, you peaceful retirement ruined, or your plans to bring up your young family in a rural setting in tatters.
  9. We don't actually "GO" Monday to Friday in Norfolk in Winter as most are closed Sept to Easter. You can attend at weekends and half term though. Overstrand was packed over the Christmas holidays as the weather was beautiful 14C. Were the conveniences open? NO.
  10. From a tourism point of view Overstrand and Wells Quay are far more important. Overstrand has a popular holiday beach and NO other facilities. Wells has two others to my knowledge but both are a long way from the popular quay area with its Fish & chips etc. The beach toilets being a mile away Blo"dy nonsense, I feel a letter to Norman Lamb coming on.
  11. The problem with the scheme is it is like an MOT, condition at a moment in time. We must have all seen the pre-inspection preparation, I certainly have. Tailgate open seats down to accommodate the second outboard tank, the spare gas bottle that does not fit in the locker, the portable gas heater, the generator with its built in petrol tank and the tender's outboard stowed under the cockpit sole with it's tank not forgetting the gas bbq. And yes why is a boat safe for it's first 28 days on the water? Don't get that one especially if it has been bounced about on a trailer for a couple of hundred miles. I am not saying it is a bad thing but it needs renaming along the lines of mechanical, gas and electrical install test. Otherwise it indicates a boat is safe and seaworthy which is just not the case.
  12. If your device (say tablet) has bluetooth you can use certain smartphones to allow the tablet to access your 4G via your provider.
  13. I have to admit that I never realised how much memory music takes. I did the same with a Kindle. Never thought about the benefit of cordless charging from the waterproofing front but I will follow your advice. I think I read that the Z4 tablet and Z5 phone dont have the covers but are still fine for 30 minutes to 1·5m
  14. Forgot to say again. Don't just blame the hire fleets for this problem. There are plenty of private ones guilty as well. Although often boats outed by the hire companies I admit.
  15. Agree with Robin re Broadsman. Last year one passed us going downstream near Acle. It was admittedly flat out but it was making a hell of a racket. We both said that it was the next generation of connoisseur in the making!
  16. Some years ago it was an X type that he got out of to take guests on Ra when it was at Barton.
  17. Forgot to say. You would not willingly stand by a truck or bus exhaust for a couple of hours or more so why should you be subjected to carcinogenic atmospherics at a mooring because you probably can't go elsewhere.
  18. Wonderful news, anything that limits this antisocial nuisance is welcome. I would not worry so much about CO as it would not normally build up once out of the exhaust but the diesel soot particles from unfiltered engines are highly cancer forming and very dangerous to anyone with respiratory problems.
  19. I looked at one about 18 months ago but decided against as it has to be hard wired. My phone was up for renewal so got a Sony Z3, waterproof to 1·5m, and you can take it anywhere, and you have the GPS, Tide and weather apps out in the rain with you!
  20. 20,000 new homes by 2026! Where are these 20,000 households living now? If they are not living around Norwich Now, where will they find the type of employment needed to finance the purchase of these type of houses. Or will they all commute to London, Cambridge etc leaving the estates empty. A sort of Holiday Home debate in reverse!
  21. But will some of these pople even want to get to their boat in ten years? 20,000 additional households around Norwich by 2026. Where is the natural playground on their doorstep? I am very fearful that the old saying about the ruination of what they have come for is going to hold true for the Broads. Once the land either side of the NDR is developed the next step must be to expand either side of the A47 so the villages on the North Bank of the Yare and South Bank of the Bure will lose their identity to suburban ribbon development. For Norfolk largely unspoilt for centuries "Times they are a changing" (and not for the better)
  22. The Gas Terminal January Luncheon for the over sixties of the immediate villages was changed this year. It had been at Sutton Staithe for years but was held at Northrepps Cottage. Maybe the change of ownership was ongoing at the time causing a change of venue.

    Tolls

I sold my 2.5 honda on the other forum because of the price of a motorised tender. I had never used it. I will not moor at Ranworth or Salhouse so weight and row in. Adding the motor to my 2.3m inflatable added about £60 or so.

    Tolls

I just paid it a few minutes after it came in. Minus my tender £31+ as I have not blown it up for two years and due to circumstances it will not be used this year for sure.
  25. Personally I always loved a game of Bar Billiards. I remember that depending on geographical location some had an extra "Mushroom" Screwing the last ball off the top cushion always showed a good player rather than taking the easy side cushion option. Where have all the tables gone? Probably with the Benskins I used to drink then.
