  1. Yes I recognise that. I've had my sweaty mitts on it too, for a few nautical miles between Lowestoft and Yarmouth. Yes Richard verified that with the cummins engines installed top speed is about 25MPH. But, Boy when he opens her right up and that prow starts to rise, she starts cutting through the water and you realise she used to got a lot faster than that (39.8mph on shakedown trials). That's when the hairs on the back of your neck go into the up condition. From the coast of Norfolk to the coast of Holland and back in 4 hours is some going, Then you realise that the engines originally fitted drank aviation fuel at a rate that puts a jumbo jet to shame, you realise that half the weight of the boat was fuel. that these guys were sitting atop a bomb. Wow what a craft.
  2. Quiz starts in about 40 minutes over in chat see above post for directions to chat room
  3. Robin is so right about Faceache. There was a programme on about a cyber criminal who repented and showed how they trawl peoples photo's. They love the young singles who share their life though faceache. they can through the photos get a house number. A view if you are single when and if you go out clubbing, what you have in the house, from expensive electronics, jewellery. Then people wonder why they get robbed. This tells the burglar exactly where everything is in your house exactly where you live, the expensive gifts that parents lavish on kids and when your birthday is. so just answering a silly question on line, isn't so simple after all.
  4. R&D now that one takes me back to Fords at Dunton in Essex. One day per fortnight we were tasked to meet at frog island and armed with a sheet full of chassis numbers, a gang of about eight of us would congregate at the gate hut and said vehicles on the list were brought to us. Thus we drove these the 27 miles through Orsett to the not so top secret facility that was Ford Research and Development Dunton (pictured below) just off the A 127. This was repeated four times in a day. One each of all cars produced at Dagenham or imported through there. These pristine new cars picked at random were then, either stipped to the last nut, bolt and weld, to check that it was built right. It's engine removed and either soak tested, with all fluids and checked for wear and tear. Or all fluids removed and run at screaming revs until something gave way. Then disected to find out what went wrong. Some were ragged around the test track at the front. Done that in a few 2.9 and Cosworth Sierras, XR3's, 1600 turbo's Granada's of all shapes. Also had a few goes at the standing quarter (half way down on the left on the picture) that's fun especially as you know what's going to happen to the car
  5. yeah knew about the reliant bit of the RS200, as I worked delivering for Fords at the time and saw the lorries full of them being downloaded at Frog island Dagenham . Fords also donated one for long term testing to Essex police. remember being overtaken by it on the M11 early one morning. Felt like I was standing still. Yeah remember the fox and the rebel, as the garage just along the road was a reliant franchise. with quite a few scimitar owners nearby
  6. Charger the poor mans Countach, without the power or the handling with VW underpinnings.

  11. I bought a 2 year old Mazda 2 90ps last year (yes it was a snip as it was due to go to auction the next day and was up for £2000 below book price) through the main dealer where my nephew works. Now this was fitted from new with Dunlop Econodrives which during the hot and even warmish weather, seemed to hold the road quite well. But came a bit of frost just before Christmas and it was like Torvill and Dean doing the Bolero. Soon had those changed, got a set of four Khumo ecowing for just under £225 fitted from Blackcircles. Not had chance to try them in the cold yet but they are a darn sight less noisy than the Dunlops. Absolutely love the Mazda 2 brilliant bit of kit (So good that Ford nicked the design for the focus as payoff for the sale back to Mazda)

  18. All computers have second external hard drive. A network WD cloud 2TB which has a 2TB back up disk attached. Accounts for the group I'm treasurer for has DVD copies too. Overkill ? No had a program on one of the laptops, which, when I removed the program, deleted the main disk and bootstrap. So if anyone has downloaded a program called Zello for PC, be careful removing it! As it has bricked loads of PC's
