  1. I have seen reports that E10 is getting something like an average 4% reduction in economy
  2. Another close run quiz, with Polly leading the pack at 11 points to become next weeks quizmaster. once again it was nice to see some new faces
  3. well I am certainly hoping to take her through sometime this year Liz, last year I was thwarted due to high water levels the week I went as it was down in the 5 foot something range (a combination of weather and wind direction I believe, so its never a guaranteed certainty to get under.
  4. according to the bridge pilot she needs 6'3" at Potter - he looked it up in their big black book, she will get through wroxham at 6'
  5. at lasti have finished typing up my quiz for tomorrow night. topic are round 1 - Cryptic towns round 2 - Missed moorings round 3 -Ransome on the broads break at Half time round 4 -80's music round 5 -Cryptic Car makes round 6 -Christmas Leftovers 8.30 in the Chat room https://www.nbnplus.co.uk/chat/- Enter your user name, no password required.
  6. well if you believe the rising sea levels figure of 10 ft by 2300, we will be able to sail over or around the bridge by then.there have been plenty of discussions of this over the years - eg and
  7. nope i will move it it was the right thread when I posted the comment though, so I dont know how that happened
  8. I suppose my personal experiences do colour my view somewhat Griff, the limiting factor on Water Rail is the width of the roof at the rear, as she needs 3" more at Potter Heigham than she does at Wroxham, so its all down to the shape of the bridge for some boats. I do still think that comparing to the 70's and 80's might be a bit suspect as there was an unusually low water level during those decades, but I agree with the issue of the bure hump.
  9. still plenty of old wooden cruisers that can get under most of the time, the biggest problem was when they widened boats out to 12 foot, those old 9'6" width cruisers are a lot easier to get through.
  10. you do remember Griff is from Yorkshire dont you, he will want at least another 40 years out of that mop handle.
  11. The small size labels here are 40mm X 20mm outside size.
  12. Next to test the multi layer traffolyte label material, using a 30 degree pointed bit, I think it came out nicely, now we just need the panel to be a few mm smaller to fit in the engraving area, and the panel sizes for the panels I have.

    Condensation

well I suppose good ventilation, and without lots of people breathing aboard, there isnt as much humidity to condensate out.
  14. It is a CNC Router, so whatever I draw up, it will cut to an accuracy of 0.1mm, the connection to the broads is that one of the first tasks will be finishing off the new electrical panels for Water Rail in traffolyte, so it will involve cutting out for the switches and fuses etc as well as the engraving for the labels. other tasks, well whatever needs doing. and as for not Broads related- well thats why its in the Broadscot Lounge, which is the area for non broads related stuff.
  15. I have cutters on order, this was the smallest that came with the machine, depth of cut just 0.2mm
  16. Just before lads week my new toy arrived, a CNC router, not any of your cheap Chinese made either, this was made in the UK, with good support. Its taken me a while to finish putting it together, but it's done, and I have been working on the software side of things, to get the results I want. Anyway, now it's done and I felt I should share the results.
  17. chandleries seem to stock them, but at about 10x the price that they are shown elsewhere.
  18. If you put deck mop head into google it comes up with lots of different types, at reasonable prices too some of them
  19. what about the old fashioned ironmongers in norwich, they seem to have about everything (as proper ironmongers should) I believe its called Thorns
  20. add myself with Water rail to your list Polly
  21. possibly a cache issue, though i dont know macs or safari, can you clear the cache for this site and reload it maybe?
  22. yes there seems to be a point about 3 nanoseconds where at one end its white and pasty and the other its black and charcoal, if you hit it just right you can get a slice that ends up white down one half and black down the other.
  23. ah but the traces are still there for the mods to see
  24. I have taken the step of hiding the off topic pencil discussion since it was getting very heated, this is not a quick decision and has been agreed by the moderation team. now lets get back onto the topic of the new addition to the wet shed, i am sure we all want to know the story
