  1. The question is whether anyone sells the gas to refill them by the riverside.
  2. We were there yesterday fro out lunch time pub session.
  3. Set sail from oulton broad, canopy down, social distancing under way,
  4. Well I know he has recorded some video, whether it will all make the cut, I don't know.
  5. I know I spent quite a time while we were at ranworth yesterday assisting several boats mooring, I managed to talk one boat into a boat width stern on gap no wider than the boat, once they had moored, they thanked me as they had only had the boat 2 hours and it was their first mooring. By following advice they managed it perfectly.
  6. Or me running away with the lads week?
  7. Our fisherman the budget angler has been fishing here at oulton this afternoon, he did say he caught a couple of fish, but nothing spectacular
  8. you lose most heat frrom your head, so if you are cold, keeping your head warm is the first step. a nice wooly had helps.
  9. everyone else on board was cold, last night at potter, but I was snug in my sleeping bag, that said I am a shorts and tee shirt person all the time, I may change into jeans if the temperature falls below -12 c, currently nice and sunny today (was rainy earlier) dont worry greatly over making a hash of mooring, we all do it from time to time.
  10. ah so we are heading across with still some ebb coming down the bure, thanks Helen so the advice should be leave about an hour after we come past and you should be ok.
  11. also out and running around helping boats moor up. the sun has come out now (of course all the rest are in the pub, so missing this rare sight)
  12. well i havent consulted the tide tables so not sure if that is low water or low water slack, all i know is that that is the time we are headed through.
  13. if you spend out for lithium batteries, then the battery will be manageable, as they are 1/3 the weight of lead acid for the same capacity, (but 10x or more the price)
  14. 5 of each crew are attending a DTS, me, I am catching up on 2 days of posts here
  15. Just checked the sailing plan and low water at great Yarmouth Sunday is 11.20, we are planning for 11.30.
  16. Depending when you are planning to go through great Yarmouth a d breydon, but we are headed through Sunday on broad ambition with jewel of light, I think we are planning to go through 11, 11.30 ish, but if you are headed across on the low tide Sunday, you are welcome to tag along behind if you see us, we are moored opposite Herbert Woods at the moment, we arrived just after dark last night.
  17. In response to my own prompt re ludham bridge, from the top to the concrete cills on the low side (ludham side) is 93 1/2" (7' 9 1/2") on the high side it's 99" (8' 3"), the high side cill is at this moment 2" above the water, and the low side 4" above the water, with the downstream board showing 7' 8" and the upstream board showing 7' 10" with the centre of the span averaged at 8' measured, this is I was told at low water - about 12.15pm on the 9th Oct. The important fact is the cill to bridge measures won't change, so if both cills are visible there is a minimum of 8 foot clearance in the centre of the span, plus anything that the cills are above water level .
  18. even space to park the volvo on the back deck
  19. perhaps you should have told them about ludham bridge, im sure they would have opened quicker rather than risk damage to their bridge.
  20. these havent appeared on the BA pages yet either https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/boating/navigating-the-broads/notices-to-mariners
  21. if you do get moored up at Horning Staithe (a central location in the books) a visit to the post office just opposite will also find a great place to find books by and about Arthur Ransome.
  22. you are braver than we were on our first trip, we got to wroxham, took one look then turned around and left, well done.
