  1. To be fair on the BA they are / were in a no win situation, with everyone clamouring for a statement telling them what they could or couldnt do, in as short a time as possible, now we have expansion of the details filtering down, that may suggest some of the interpretations by the BA with the knowledge they had at the time, might have been a bit over the top, all those people who clamoured for a statement 'now' are complaining that the BA made mistakes. If you try and rush anything through, mistakes are going to happen, its how you handle the aftermath and re-issue an updated correct statement that matters, and even then, for some if it says something they dont want to hear, you will still get the complaints. The government advises that non essential travel is not allowed, I am working from home mostly, yet still as I am a key worker in an infrastructure supply industry, i have been issued with a letter to cover any travel i need to do for work. if you are stopped and questioned while travelling to your boat, I hope you have an explanation that satisfies the questioner. we all need to stop and ask ourselves if the journey we need to make is essential, for the second day i see frost on the grass outside, but have the temperatures dropped low enough for boaters to be concerned yet, I am sure that if we get a cold spell forecast, then winterisation will be deemed a necessary excuse for travel, in the mean time consider that those boatyards that are still open will need work for their staff, and winterising peoples boats for them could be the difference between keeping staff on and surviving to next year, or not.
  2. it all then comes down to interpretation. or whether the inference that lockdown would be longer could be said to be a logical extension of the fact that the furlough scheme had been extended, or whether someone was just being a cheeky chappie when he suggested it. the fact is that the legislation is in the pipeline to control misinformation on the internet (and yes I too was being a cheeky chappie when I suggested it could be used in this instance) and that we as a forum need to be aware of it and its implications, particularly as you say where it has a bearing on the covid situation because as we have seen with the comment attributed to Donald Trump, even the greatest amongst us can fall foul of passing misinformation. You may take away from this that as a forum we are keeping an eye on current and future legislation that may come into being to ensure we comply and ensure the continuance of the forum by being ahead of the game in compliance.
  3. Paladin, its part of the online harms bill, but has been related to the coronavirus act (and I have to admit I have not read it all), but it is among the areas we research to ensure the forum complies with the latest and upcoming legislation that might affect the forum and social media in general. I just receive the reports from our experts and do my best to ensure we stick within the guidelines. (and you lot all thought us moderators had an easy life).
  4. unfortunately its a genuine government site, and indicates a path down which they are treading, any further comment by me would become far too political to be uttered upon here, but shades of George from 26 years back.
  5. did you check on the government checklist whether you are allowed to say that? :-)
  6. sadly under the publication of misinformation clause of the new coronavirus 2020 act they are passing this speculation could lead to fines or imprisonment (which is one of the reasons we ask people not to pass on unsubstantiated speculation) its best to check here -https://sharechecklist.gov.uk/ before posting speculative items that might lead you into trouble.
  7. ah yes, partially wet washing for everyone in that case.
  8. well, having managed not to buy anyones christmas presents yet, its unfortunate that if lockdown continues, and non essential shops remain shut, then i wont be able to buy any one a christmas present - I sense a silver lining here.
  9. I use either video pad or virtual dub for basic video editing
  10. I can do a decent cheese and bacon wrap, using ready rolled puff pastry bacon and sliced cheese, but thats more assembly not cooking.
  11. I once placed a chicken to defrost in the freezer compartment at the top of a fridge that had been turned off and wasnt in use, I came home to cook my tea to find nothing left but a couple of drumsticks, as the cats had managed to open the freezer door, drag the chicken out, and then had proceeded to devour all of the best bits, guess who went hungry that night (no not the cats).
  12. its finding somewhere for it to warm to room temperature without the cats finding it.
  13. oh dear, have you become a thorn in the doctors side, if its any help, i cant access it either, but maybe that is because i dont have a twitter account.

  16. David, a great deal of effort has already been expended in attempts to communicate with Craigs family, but we are aware that there is a finite deadline in the expiry of the current hosting, the ideal solution would just be to take over the hosting and make the database a lasting memorial to Craigs memory, but we have to put contingencies in place in case this is not achievable. If anyone can put us in touch with Craigs family that would be of immense assistance, even if it is just to say they have things covered.
  17. please do, i could do with some variations in my cooking
  18. I wonder if any hire companies have boats available for a 4 week holiday starting tomorrow?
