  1. I have yet to get Potter bridge to lift for me despite many requests. It’s just not on!!
  2. With all these photos, there has to be one of Independence on the 2019 calendar surely? This has been a major event for the forum this year, it has interested so many.
  3. We really have been spoilt with all the videos, photos and write-ups. Thank you to all those who have kept forum members up to date with events, it has made it all the more interesting for the rest of us. I’m glad they are nearly there, I was beginning to feel a bit queasy with the swell of the past couple of days!
  4. Glad Indy is now in safer waters and will be completing her journey today. So wish you and the team could have been with her Griff. All the best laid plans and all that...! You and the guys have done a sterling job and it will be an adventure to remember, perhaps not for all the right reasons! Not a lot more to say except hats off to you all. Good luck today Robin, the waters of the Yare will be like an old friend now.
  5. We seemed to have picked up quite a few new posters with this thread. Welcome to the forum all of you, hope you will keep posting. What a trip, all credit to team Indy. Hope Robin manages to join them again now and complete the journey. Just read about the bridge - oh frapping halyards!!!
  6. I don’t know how many of you know what has happened to Robin but it is very sad that he had to leave the boat. I know she will be in good hands with Charlie and the crew but it must be heartbreaking for Robin. Incredibly brave of him to do that write-up on FB.
  7. I think that last sentence of yours is probably exactly what was intended JohnK. Paladin quoted from a document that is no longer available on the BA website . Luckily he keeps tabs on such documents, if people like Paladin didn’t do that, we would be none the wiser. There are some who are extremely adept at using words which convey something but can also be interpreted quite differently. You have to keep a truly open mind when reading JP’s words.
  8. Islander - I wish I could ‘like’ your post many many more times! What a wonderful quote and so very appropriate, Robin could do with that on a big poster on his wall so he can remind himself of his adventures.
  9. Great photos and write ups guys, well done. Safe journey today Indy, Brundall beckons.
  10. True, but if it looks like it’s happening maybe it is - who knows?! Think back to ‘newbie’ days when you were told to look and see what the river was doing before leaving a mooring and then make a decision as to how to leave that mooring. Experience now tells us that there are these anomalies but it could confuse some. I’m not sure I’m explaining myself all that well but I hope you get my drift (sorry!).
  11. I’ve seen that happen quite a few times. It can be confusing if you’re trying to leave a mooring and planning which way to head out.
  12. This is so much better than the Tour de France! Great to be able to share in the adventure.
  13. Plenty of good pubs in Weymouth, several restaurants around that area too. Have a good evening lads.
  14. What time are they due to arrive in Weymouth please? Rough idea of course.
  15. Ricardo - see the ‘little devil’ emoticon? You actually typed irreverent instead of irrelevant giving the statement a completely different meaning! That brings out the little devil in me I’m afraid, I’m sorry. I hope you don’t mind me saying that you do seem to be getting a wee bit uptight with things, maybe take a step back? You clearly have a lot of knowledge about the issues with Robin’s boat/rib but there seem to be a lot of differing views with everybody wanting a say. I’m sure it will all come right in the end.
  16. Are you going to patent this? Could also be used as an oar in the event of engine failure.
  17. Thoroughly enjoyable Captain’s Blog no 8, you are very fortunate to have such good mates Robin. Your write-ups are such that it is almost like being on the boat with you. Looking forward now to the ‘big trip’ report and video. (Have you ever thought about daily or weekly disposable contact lens? Very easy to wear and no worries about losing glasses in the drink!) Good luck for this coming weekend everyone, fingers crossed for good weather for you. Take care but above all enjoy the experience.
