  1. Re gra inside .... I am finding it very hard to stop replying to you in the way I would like which would definitely break the tos
  2. Thankyou Selsie ..... I was run over by a car on Saturday so have been in hospital for broken ankle and shoulder .... so I got off quite lightely. The experience of living a disabled life whilst the ijuries heal is very humbling and it highlights the futility of all this playground sqabbling that Ricardos thread has descended into. Just get on enjoying life, ignore those who make you sad ........ you don't know how long youve got left.
  3. blimey go to hospital for a few days and the gods dump snow everywhere and Ricardo leaves? I think on the whole I would prefer he stayed as 75% of his postd are interesting the ramainder appear a little overly confrontational but I suspect thats got more to do with my interpretation of his written word .... As for bullying here? I havn't seen any .... there are fothright, imovable views which no amount of debate will ever reconcile but thats what social media is. Personally Ricardo I would have preferred you took a posting break to recover your equilibrium and then come back in when inevitably some topic will get steam blowing out of your ears.
  4. I remember when Skoda's used to be mistaken for skips! Now they have aspirations of being a VW ...... so maybe the next leap is to Rolls Royse which is, after all, only a posh Skoda!
  5. And I suspect many others who really can't see what all the fuss is about.
  6. To compare the willingness to allow stag/hen hiring to solo hiring is not really an appropriate comparison, I think the augument to support solo/single parent hiring is justified in it's own right.
  7. I was hoping that the OP had mis-interpreted the ban but sadly it seems not. A sensible stance would be restrict single hire to a particular style of boat, be it solo or solo + kids. Maybe the yard should offer a cruise in company boat where singles or couples can book an appropriate cabin on the boat and then cruise in company. But the really sad thing is that people book a solo holiday because they want to experience the tranquility that the Broads can provide and there appears to be a move afoot to render this impossible. Very very sad!!!!
  8. Quite so ................ People who think fruadulant insurance claims isn't stealing need to be ................... There are many many things I would like to do to them but i'll keep my powder dry. This also applies to the litigation companies who kindly ring me to enquire about my recent accident?
  9. Born in Beccles ................ Loved fishing .............. Longed for a boat ............ Saved up pocket money and bought an old grp dinghy .............. Converted an old set of pram wheels into a trolly ........... Pushed said dinghy to river to go trolling (oar power lest you cry foul) Saved up more money and bought a seagull ............. Bliss Always loved boats and water since but currently boatless
  10. Primarily a Broads forum but for me it's appeal is that it allows a diverse topic range whilst remaining mainly Broads based.
  11. Blimey I had written something very profound here but it has disappeared? Some members on here have made "real life" friendships. When a newbie rocks up and appears to criticise said friend the it is only natural to defend your friend. Any self announced skill/experience I discard until enough relevant posts have been made to substantiate said claims.
  12. I, on the other hand, was totally unaware of the terms used, their meaning or when and whom used them. Thanks, to this thread, I now know a liitle more. Another small window on a life that I have no knowledge of. So it's a thanks from me.
  13. Some quite judgemental statements made elsewhere but then that tends to be the nature of Forums. At least you can get an idea of what to expect before participating. I am sure you will very soon refind your initial enthusiasm for "Indi" but a boat will always be a big part of your life regardless of size. Even if not used it continues to be a big drain on the finances. What you can look forward to is a beautiful warm summer during which you can get to know & love the new gal in your life. As some have mentioned, parking for a few months in the marina at Lowestoft might enrich your first year ..... at least you will be able to easily do some coastal hopping in hopefully somewhat calmer waters than your first trip.
  14. Back in the sixties there was nothing so dreary as looking at the old fashioned wooden broads cruisers when compared with the sexy new plastic cruisers. I alway assumed that painting the varnished hulls white was an attempt to make them look more modern and appealing to potential hirers.
  15. I guess the same could be done for discarded chewing gum (a mandatory dna register of all people buying gum). Fingerprint analysis on discarded cans & packaging. etc etc Anything to avoid the nasty temptation to employ litter/poo pickers on our streets. A job ideally suited for those serving community service!!
  16. Re: BA ranger visit. Are there any checks made on vessels entering the Broads from sea? I'm thinking smuggling activty etc.
  17. Well I was feeling very worn out just reading the tale and watching the clips. It's certainly not the sort of voyage I would look forward to. I would take at least 2-3 weeks for this voyage with more time in port than at sea. It would definitely also be done during Spring to Autumn. This trip/schedule is definately one for the pros.
  18. I think debate on this topic has got a bit confused. It is not a debate about whether the Broads is a full NP or not, it is merely a poll asking people to vote for their favourite park, which under the current rules, the Broads is entitled to feature. However without JM raising this topic I wouldn't have been aware that the poll existed so thanks to his alertness I have been able to register a vote in support of the Broads.
  19. A somewhat harsh statement I think. We all have the right to raise topics/comments/opinions on all topics that don't break the TOS just as we all have the right to argue contra points. Most debates are conducted in a frank but friendly manner and long may this continue.
  20. OK Fact: The Broads is a member of the National Park family and as such it is entitled to use the term National Park in promotional literature. So it's NOT a sausage or a Fiat car. As I see it the Broads is perfectly entitled to be included in the vote for top National Park and i'm sure a win would benefit us all. Sometimes you have to carefully choose your battles in order to retain credability. In my opinion this shouldn't even be considered as part of the battle, it undermines the case of the anti NP watchdogs who, on the whole, do a very important job.
  21. There are a lot of things in this life that I find strange and people are frequently top of my list. So let's say you have chosen the Broads as your preferred play ground, in preference to other equally exciting parks .............. why would you deliberatly vote against it because somebody (suposed broads people) keep banging on loudly that it's not fair!!???? Just makes us all look like complete numpties ...... a view comonaly held by those who can't quite fathom out why anybody would want to live in the flat.wetlands in the ****-end of England.
  22. Allowing for sat nav blips and the resulting trip via Bay of Biscay and thru the pillars of hercules i'm going for 5127 litres.
  23. As a solo helmsman is the canopy easy to raise/lower?
