  1. Yep Fully open and functioning as you would expect
  2. We took the dogs for a walk and then made our way up to the King's Arms at Ludham for a quick refreshment It's a great pub, which is dog friendly and very welcoming with excellent food and if you enjoy music and sport, lots of both available! We then made our way back to the boat and prepared our evening meal of spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread whilst watching the one show The heater isn't on, because it's so mild at the moment and no doubt it will change but Julie and I are really impressed how warm and cosy Moonlight Shadow is in winter, whether you have the heating on or not Tomorrow we have booked a mooring and a table at the New Inn, Horning so will be eating out and it's the first visit under new ownership and...with our pooches with us, as they now allow dogs inside! 👍👏👏 I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but for us, it's a huge tick in the box, and we can't wait to see how the evening unfolds As a bonus, some friends of ours who live in Little Plumstead (near Salhouse broad) and we don't see that often, are meeting us at the New Inn, so tomorrow evening should be a special one
  3. Today we set off around 10am for our journey to the Northern Broads We had a really relaxed journey across Breydon The yellow post was passed and we started the route up the Bure As we passed the Acle Bridge Inn, the temptation to stop was resisted and we continued up river We saw 6 boats heading in the opposite direction during our journey but generally the rivers were very quiet This was silver cloud who we passed as they headed South between Acle and the Thurne mouth We went up the Thurne and turned off towards Hunters Yard and noted for the first time Womack Dyke was empty! Could we get in at Womack? Of course as we were the only visitor Apart from a little blue smart car with a couple of occupants watching the world go by A long but enjoyable trip
  4. Great tip Malcolm Now successfully downloaded!
  5. Cheers Smoggy I use it as a guide only and it's rarely let me down Just getting ready to leave Reedham, as we are going to go north today and have a couple of days whilst it is quiet and before the navigation through GY is closed
  6. For those who use the Aweigh App High tide was around 6.30pm on Monday 29th November and the Aweigh App displayed 1.54 metres which I assumed was low enough for the water not to overtop the quay heading and this morning high tide was around 7.30am and the Aweigh App displayed 1.60 metres I can confirm that it did not overtop the quay this morning and had about an inch and half to spare Hopefully this will give people a benchmark when visiting Reedham in the future Over the next week or so the Aweigh App is displaying 1.66, 1.70, 1.84 and 1.89 metres so it is likely to overtop and needs to be a consideration when mooring, particularly in winter
  7. Definitely We have just been on a walk with Roxy and Yogi who forced us into the Ship for one of the gravy bones behind the bar... So we had to have a drink also! 😂
  8. You need to wrap up, but it's quite mild with little wind at the moment so very pleasant indeed
  9. This time we made it! But not without more mishaps.. Stopped in a traffic queue on the A1 just after leaving the M62 and "bang" as we are rammed from behind.... 🙈🙈 I immediately got out and the woman in the offending car was shaking like a life! The front end of her Ford Focus looked a bit of a mess and although my old Range Rover has a few more dents, the boot still opens and the dogs and Julie and I were fine, so we swapped details and I told the woman not to worry..it's only a piece of metal on wheels and after making sure everyone was ok, we set off again, although Julie did ask whether we should just go home! But on arrival the mood changed within seconds and that's why we love visiting Norfolk. Huge thanks also to our fellow syndicate members who left me a few beers.... (I think they are for me! 🤞😉) And Julie some flowers! Moonlight Shadow was in great condition and the weather was glorious We left our mooring and headed down river towards Reedham and you could feel the stresses and strains of the past few days ebb away..
  10. Cheers Malcolm It was that bad, it was actually frightening as I was getting concerned for the Mrs and the dogs and I was just glad to get home Just about defrosted, so will give it a second try on Monday
  11. John, Hopefully the roads will be clear. The M62 is back open and my son drove to York this afternoon across the Pennines as he was refereeing York City in the FA trophy and got there OK. It was just "a perfect storm" this morning which made travelling East impossible. My advice is to stay to the main roads and if need be take plenty breaks Safe journey
  12. Thanks Helen Yes we are on her for a fortnight and plan to set off early Monday so should be with MS well before lunch for a good first full day We still hope to go north as the tides are favourable, but it's no huge issue if we are unable
  13. Well today we head back to Norfolk..... Ok.. We tried and failed! Got up this morning to be informed the M62 was shut over the Pennines "Google" said head towards Hyde and across to Sheffield and cut out the M62 joining the A1 around Sheffield/Barnsley area So we set off at 7am, it was a bit breezy, but otherwise fine until we got on the A roads to cross the Pennines Informed Woodhead and Snake pass closed and then we came to a standstill as traffic chaos ensued! Trucks and cars everywhere struggling to move "Google" then said turn left and head over the Old Road... I need to stop listening to "Google" This was what the road looked like as we climbed So as soon as we got to a suitable turning area we spun round and started the journey back home A guy in a BMW 4x4 you can see in the picture had flown into Manchester from Saudi Arabia this morning and was trying to get home, but also turned round and will now look for a stop off point before trying to get home in Yorkshire Our Newfies Roxy and Yogi are very confused, but we are back home now and will give it another try on Monday Stay safe everyone
  14. Visited it many times on foot, by car and boat It is a nice area
  15. I know many will shoot me down in flames, but I really dont get the sentimental reasons for retaining a bridge designed to allow boats to pass underneath and people and vehicles to pass over the top, which no longer does the job it was built to do As such I would have no hesitation in its removal and a lovely modern one put in its place which actually does the job the original design was meant to solve Time to get behind the couch
  16. We have been in the Yare many times and we have always found it to have lots of trade and although a large pub, bookings are recommended if you wanted to eat in the evening It not only attracts a gang of regulars, it attracts boaters, holiday makers, tradespersons, passing trade from the railway station, both for those waiting for a train and those coming off and on match days it's a regular drop off prior to the match and pick up point after Norwich City have played Fingers crossed it is quickly snapped up and back as a thriving business
  17. Paul and the team at Swancraft were brilliant when the fuel kiosk was closed at Brooms, so its great that they are still able to assist and I feel we do owe them for their support, so I may just make the same phone call myself!
  18. We are due on her for a fortnight from 27th November and the tides appear to be kind to us, so we are going to follow your lead and head north also, then head back south on the Thursday of week 1 Its a chill trip after a verrrrrryyyyy long year so not really fussed about where we end up and not planned much (other than passing through GY) but we are so looking forward to it, whatever the weather!
  19. Glad to hear you had a great time. I love reading about your travels as it gives us ideas for our next trip Enjoy your last evening and have a safe journey home
  20. Thanks Alan for everything you and the moderators do I did recall reading it on here so thought I would just check out the BA site this morning for any updates, but could I find it? Nope! Hence referring back to the forum for the message and the link as it looks like we may be on MS 27th November until 11th December if things work out and are planning to travel north first before the closure affects the route
  21. I find the Broads Authority website so confusing as today I thought I would check out the current notices to mariners and see things which took place over 18 months ago and have long since finished and notices such as this nowhere to be found... Why they have so many differences on one website with notices to mariners, boating news and current notices, is beyond my comprehension and leads to confusion in my humble opinion! https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/boating/navigating-the-broads/notices-to-mariners How on earth newbies go on, I have no idea.......... Whoever designed the website needs to get newbies to check it as part of a user experience test so they know the information is in the right place and easily found
  22. Excellent news for a much loved location
  23. As always, I wish a new owner the very best indeed and I look forward to visiting in the near future
  24. The problem you have is all of us have a bias based on our political, social, religious and economic position As such many in the press and those circulating such on social media are doing it to create hysteria, to support their bias or because they themselves have moved to panic mode and believe everything they read!! With an added sprinkling of selfishness!!!
