  1. Looks like a lovely boat. Happy cruising! :)
  2. Keep believing in yourself Robin and all the best for Thursday.
  3. It was running slow for me earlier in the day as well, both on my computer and on my phone. Yes, I was checking the forum over breakfast before going back to work and over lunchtime from the office!!
  4. Maybe Mrs Nog is suggesting how our Rascal should persuade the examiner to pass him next time round.
  5. And how often are we told to stop fussing when as mothers we go through that inevitable check list before they step out of the door?! Glad that Security got you in!
  6. Very much enjoyed your tale David. Looking forward to hearing how you get on in December. Goosander does look a lovely boat.
  7. Very interesting Helen. A good craftsman can make something look so easy that is actually quite tricky to do. That copper foil is very pretty. I like the colour of glass that you have chosen. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. :)

    Stern Only

Wonderful to be out when the rivers are so quiet. There were two boats at Womack Water when we drove down there to take a look a few days ago. :)
  9. Great photos! Welcome to the forum.
  10. I enjoyed seeing where you went every day Jay. The weather was certainly very wet and windy this morning. We had everything packed up in the caravan by lunchtime and are also back home. Looking forward to your next tale.

    My Day

Christchurch is lovely. We used to stay at a holiday camp at Mudeford right by the sea. And in the other direction you must visit Sandbanks. Beautiful beaches.

    My Day

I have very fond memories of Bournemouth from family holidays as a child. Must get back down there for a proper visit some time. You certainly had good weather for your trip Helen.
  13. Enjoyed seeing your photos and reading your tale again. Personally there are other places that I can think of to moor if I didn’t want to cruise but to stay moored up even with the 24 hour restrictions on the BA moorings. Not sure that GY would be on my list but then to be fair I haven’t been that far down the Bure.
  14. Ah, that “holiday almost over” feeling. The one time that you have to do a bit of planning. At least you have a return trip to look forward to. We’re probably packing up tomorrow and heading for home. But in our case our return trip is not likely to be until the spring. Have a safe journey home Jay.
  15. We really like the people around Lowestoft and having the caravan here has meant that we feel in a halfway position between holidaymakers and residents. We also like the roads and area between the Great Yarmouth, Caister and Potter Heigham areas. Looked on Rightmove earlier, as one does, and there are some very affordable bungalows in the area. Like you, Carole, I grew up in London. And I didn’t think that I would want to move any further away than where I live in Essex. But things are very different now and I really hope that when the time is right, hubby and I will have at least one more move to make.
  16. Lovely photos Debs. You’ve captured that late afternoon light so well. :)
  17. Just to add that Andrew has now edited his post on our FB page to add as below, so it’s not all boats and therefore may well remain as other years. “EDIT: NBD have clarified that some boats remain available but are only bookable after conversations with them.”
  18. Yesterday HMS Tyne was anchored off the coast for a while. It was decommissioned in May but is now being paid for from a Brexit fund as part of a fishing fleet protection plan. Spotted a couple of RIBs going back out there late afternoon so don’t know what was going on there but interesting to observe. Today we have stayed locally in Lowestoft. Went for a walk on the south side of town. The light was beautiful on the sea - not sure if it shows that well on this photo taken on my phone. Will write up this trip a little better once I can check what’s on my camera when we get home.
  19. Not sure about that Cal. As I recall Rose Emblem had a mixture of both. But you weren’t supposed to run it for long once the engine was off unless hooked up to shore power which was a bit bizarre. We used to put off turning it on as long as we could and get a blanket out instead!
  20. Hope you’re both having a lovely day. And not too cold for your little dogs. :)
  21. That’s really interesting Carole. We’re also amongst those with the dream of moving up here once both retired. But we’ve looked around online and it would need to be somewhere pretty special. If we moved from an estate in Essex to one on the outskirts of Norwich for example, day to day life might not feel that different.
  22. You and me both Howard! And maybe some premium bonds! We could make our own syndicate of two if ever Swan Reflection comes up for sale!
  23. Sorry it’s NBD also known as Faircraft Loynes that may no longer be hiring November through to spring.
  24. Strangely enough Andrew (Freedom Boats) has just posted on the NBN Facebook page that Norfolk Broads Direct have stated that they are not hiring until Spring 19 now. Seems they may have withdrawn from the winter and Christmas season.
  25. Lol that made me laugh! Started cloudy but the sun is shining now on the coast. Have a great day yourself. :)
