  1. Hoping to pop along to this one. Any ideas on best places for car parking given that we would be coming from Lowestoft. We used a great little car park by the Tide and Time Museum when we came up for the air show but given that is so close to South Quay I am wondering whether there are any better options. 2. Here's the other view!
  3. I would have to disagree with that Smoggy. It’s very rewarding to give good reviews to businesses that deserve it. I always write way more positive reviews than negative. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  4. Sounds idyllic. Haven’t stopped at Cockshoot for a while. Great that other boaters helped you out there. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  5. Goodness ... 50 years since the Victoria Line opened ... where has that gone?! I still remember that. Growing up in North London we went everywhere on public transport. My dad commuted into Green Park every day and I remember travelling with my family on the Victoria Line and being interested to see the different tiled pictures. Thanks for the memory!
  6. The Broom Captains are still on my list of possible hires for next year. Will look forward to reading your tale. I have read stories that the weather is set for a BBQ Indian Summer all the way to Christmas!!
  7. Welcome along Graham! I haven't hired this boat but have hired forward steer cruisers many times. They are great for accessibility being on one level throughout.
  8. I always fill in questionnaires with both good and bad comments. I am extremely mindful of praising good service and quality just as much as anything that I feel could be improved. Working in customer service I know how much it means to my team to get the really good feedback rather than only any complaints. And don't forget how good it makes you feel as well knowing that you have left a smile on someone's face by giving them some positivity.
  9. That may well be true. But as someone who has spent quite a bit of time in the area, not just when on holiday, I would certainly find it useful to read current reviews. For example ... I have a couple of favourite places to eat. One would be valid because I've been there in the last couple of months. The other, I haven't been to for maybe a couple of years, so I realise it could have changed and that's why a review with a date would perhaps indicate how relevant it is when read at any later time. Perhaps given that Trip Advisor is open for anyone to read we shouldn't be worried about reviews made here.
  10. Glad to hear that you had a good time. Don't be alarmed ... it is a perfectly normal symptom of the Broads Bug to book your next trip within a few days. The more times that you return, the more you find the places that become your own personal favourites. You reminded me also that the one time we took our children, back in the 90s, we also ended up spending a day in Great Yarmouth before coming home ... a nice swim in the pool at the leisure centre and a few goes on the slot machines rounded off our week away that year.
  11. I love mooring on Ranworth Island. Don't ask me why ... maybe it's partly that it is often a useful backup plan when other places are full. However one has to be careful if then nipping to the staithe for water and shopping the next morning. We did that once and our boat number was noted by whoever checks these things, in the ten minutes that we were there. We then managed to moor on the staithe the next night and yes, that is strictly speaking a "return within 24 hours"! So the following morning we were clocked again and asked to leave. We did try to explain but I don't think they were interested ... I suppose anyone could spin that line whether true or not. Have a great week Simon. I look forward to reading about the rest of your trip. :)
  12. I think it would be good to have a reviews section. Maybe if each review was to be started with the date of the visit then it would be easy to see how old it was and then people can use their judgement as to whether it's valid. For example if I look on Trip Advisor I am interested in reviews within the last 3 to 6 months. Anything over one year I'm likely to take with a pinch of salt. If the member posting didn't put the date clearly at the start then can the admin team edit it? If really concerned about negative impact then we could at least hold this in the members only area.
  13. So glad to hear that all went well and you made it to the wedding. Now time to recuperate. And many thanks for the reminder about the Maritime Festival as we are expecting to be in the area so might get along. :)
  14. The only answer that I can see has been specifically acknowledged as correct is “the first mooring looking towards Horning. “ Not exactly very illuminating !
  15. So ... where is it? Which side of Horning? By Wroxham Broad? Still can't place it!
  16. Fascinating. So interesting to see places from the air that you know so well on the ground or on the water. Thanks for sharing this. :)
  17. Coming up Oulton Dyke approaching the Waveney?
  18. Wishing you a speedy recovery and that all goes according to plan. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app

    My Day

I did hear some of the travel news yesterday from afar. Sounded horrendous. I’m not sure how you manage that commute every day Grendel. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  20. We have had both Silver Emblem and Moon Beam. Fantastic if you’ve got the weather. But have to be careful if the water levels are high. We were advised not to try Ludham Bridge one year in October. It’s great to try different styles of boats. As you said, they have their pros and cons. Haven’t hired from NBD for a while so good to read what you thought of the boat. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  21. Sounds like a great move for you. I’m sure you will love the southern rivers. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  22. Wow! I’m sure we’ve all seen near misses but that sounds as if it was one of those moments when you can’t believe what you’ve seen. Glad you got to Salhouse ok afterwards. What a shame it spoilt your last day afloat. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  23. Thanks for the update. Hope the op goes well today.
  24. Hope you get sorted out soon and on the road to recovery. It’s not weather for being out and about now. We’re not far from JPH. Pouring with rain and blowing a gale. Hope anyone else afloat is safely moored up.
  25. Maybe next year. Needed my pennies for other things this time round.
