  1. Not really ... could be anywhere ... looks like we're playing the last round of Catchphrase to be revealed one square at a time! Hunsett Mill?
  2. Ok ... that seems a bit random then without any kind of clue ... couldn't you crop the picture and post part of it?
  3. Is there supposed to be a photo here?
  4. Haven't been to the Wayford Bridge Inn for a couple of years but it's on our top three of places to eat out around the Broads. Excellent food and service whenever we have been there.
  5. Just Googled that boat. Very nice indeed. Any video updates coming soon Robin? Guessing that "life" might be keeping you rather busy at the moment for picking up the camera.
  6. Looking forward to reading how your holiday goes and how you got on with the boat. I would love to hire one of Ferry Marina’s newer boats - the cabins and fit out look such great quality in all the photos on their website.
  7. Enjoyed reading your tale and seeing all your photos Jay. Hope you had a good journey home. It was certainly very welcome to get the rain this week although it might not have been quite as welcome for any holidaymakers after all the hot sunny weather of late.
  8. Now I don’t usually participate in these shenanigans as I don’t generally go in pubs! But is this The Maltsters? My only reasoning is the blue and white colours. :)
  9. This is one place that I would thoroughly recommend. We have had fish and chips, scones and cakes in there ... on three separate visits I might add. Everything was very well presented, absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. My go-to place if ever I'm in Potter Heigham ... and I would even go to Potter Heigham especially to go to Bridge Stones. :)
  10. The first summer in seven years that I haven't hired a boat other than a day boat, and even than it was back in mid-June just before the heatwave ... it even rained that morning!!!
  11. Going to have to balance things out a bit here ... I know it's probably a lone voice against the Bridge Inn Fan Club (!) ... but I just don't find the Bridge Inn anything exceptional. Sure, lovely location, which is its plus point, food reasonable but not outstanding. Just my view having eaten there a number of times. We all have our favourites and it depends what you're looking for and how it works out on the day.

    My Day

    That looks wonderful. :)
  13. A two hour wait for food?? I would have got something onboard. Was it just because of how busy they were?
  14. Welcome along. I would love to move closer to the Broads but circumstance prevents us. However we bought a static caravan at Lowestoft and weekends spent there do allow me that feeling of edging closer from Essex!
  15. Love that stretch of the Waveney. Haven’t ever moored at Oulton Broad or WRC or Somerleyton.... still so many places to explore.
  16. I was so busy enjoying your photos and thinking of the Broads that I forgot to add a Happy Birthday too !!! Belated Happy Birthday ...
  17. Very interesting to read your write-up Helen. Did you find it strange driving so quickly from one place to another on the first day, when you know how long it would take by boat? We went to Woodbastwick recently while at the caravan, then through Wroxham and onto Horning. To return to Lowestoft we went over Ludham Bridge, through Ludham, almost down to Womack Water, up through Potter Heigham and back down to Acle. So strange to see so many places in one trip that would take hours to get to on a boat. I like Great Yarmouth, very fond memories of holidays there and at Caister when the children were small. But it can take some getting around on a busy day. You mentioned the Acle straight ... when we last came down there we could see that Breydon Bridge had been lifted so that caused a bit of a queue!! Haven't been above the old bridge at Potter Heigham on a boat yet but we are considering another day boat trip later in the year and haven't decided where yet so it was interesting to hear how you got on.
  18. We were at the New Inn recently. Food and service were great, prices reasonable, and they recommend booking for evenings.
  19. I can’t imagine you’re ever idle Alan. You always seem to be cleaning or fixing or sorting things out on the boat!
  20. Saw the video on FB. Always enjoy seeing boats go through the bridge.
  21. Lovely photos Jay. Certainly looks peaceful out there. Have moored at Cantley a couple of times but never overnight. Is there much current being on the main river? Does it run fast there?
  22. Love reading about you pootling about on the southern rivers Alan. We really like Loddon and the Chet, but I'm not sure that I would want to start from there. The Chet could be quite daunting if you have never hired before ... and something meets you on a bend!! By the way ... there was talk a long while ago of the red and green poles being removed up near the Yare. Did that ever happen?
  23. Interesting review. I rather get the impression that you liked the boat!!
  24. It was a shame that after so much fine weather for so long the clouds rolled in on the one night when we needed clear skies. Quite a few people were out with their cameras on the sea wall at Lowestoft. We were treated to quite a lightning show but no chance of seeing the lunar eclipse!
  25. Welcome along. I hope you’ve not been put off by comments on the other thread. Always nice to have some new members posting. :)
