Agree…these disposable trays are being sold as an easy option at Christmas to save washing up. You can only recycle them if you wash them. Nigella has a lot to answer for. My recollection is that she was the first TV cook to recommend them as a way to cut down on ‘work’ for Christmas.

I really enjoyed this vlog from a guy following the Wherryman’s Way, starting out from Norwich. He sounds well informed. I’d hadn’t known that one of the medieval towers that you pass on the way to the Yacht Station is referred to as ‘Devil’s Tower’, nor that Colman’s factory was built on the site of a medieval priory.

I would be too! You haven’t yet seen the granny cap Graham has planned. I wasn’t there when Graham tried it on, but according to Harry, Pozzick was cool with it. Mind you, Pozzick is cool with most things. Having just dealt with a collie for that past six years, I’m still amazed at how laid back Pozzick is. We still love Seren, however manic she is!

Have you read the Roald Dahl version of the Red Riding Hood story? The one where little miss riding hood gets the upper hand. I was going to quote things like ‘whips out a pistol from her’ (knickers…are you allowed to say that? ), only I didn’t think it would go down too well online, even though it’s a children’s story. I love Roald Dahl’s subversive version.

Pozzick’s outfit is from a charity shop, Seren’s one needs sewing up. So far Graham has bought some red fabric and created a paper template for the ‘hood’.

£300! I got mine for £199 from AO. Same price in John Lewis but they were out of stock and I couldn’t wait. I got the biggie too, 7.5l. Got it last week and so far very impressed, though it did take me two days to pluck up the courage to actually use it.

Graham spent this morning wandering around Bletchley (now part of Milton Keynes), mainly because the car had an appointment with a guy that was fixing a tow bar. As I have mentioned previously, there’s no way we’ll fit both doggies and all our stuff into the car and roof box, so we need a trailer. Bletchley has one of those high streets that now has a lot of charity shops, so a good place for Graham to hunt for a suitable ‘granny look’ garment for Pozzick’s Christmas party outfit (as described above). It also has a good, reasonably priced fabric shop too, a source for red fabric. I am yet to find out what Graham plans to make with that…maybe a Red Riding Hood cape for Seren? When I worked in Bletchley railway station in the mid 1980’s it had a really good high street. A handy Co-op department store and a good range of shops. There was a brilliant bakery that I found far too tempting during work breaks when on a double shift. Shame that a lot of our smaller towns have suffered.

It’s the doggy Christmas party soon, (for agility classes) with Pozzick’s being invited too. Doggy’s are encouraged to ‘dress-up’ for the event, so Graham has come up with a cunning plan…a Little Red Riding Hood theme. I haven’t seen anything of Seren’s costume yet, but the grandma outfit for Pozzick seems to be taking shape. If it all works out, there will be photos!

Poor Ian. He had to put up with enough joshing when it happened!

I know people go on about the roundabouts in Milton Keynes, but at least our grid road system does mean you don’t have to go far out of your way if one of the roads or roundabouts are shut. Yes, it does cause tailbacks in the rush hour, but even that doesn’t bother me now that I work at home. Win win as far as I’m concerned. I even like roundabouts. (Can’t stand traffic lights!)

Having a deadline to work to with the house puts on more pressure in the short term, but I’m sure once that’s over it will be a good thing. I was very lucky to have got my Mam’s house sorted and sold well before she passed away. It was stressful at the time though, especially given the distance between Anglesey and MK.

Hope the funeral is helpful to you Kate. I know that must be a slightly weird thing to say, but I felt such a weight lifted off my shoulders after my Mam’s funeral. What I hadn’t taken into account was the toll everything had taken on me, including travelling back down to MK the evening after the funeral and then onto Norfolk the following morning. The second (or third) day of our holiday I had two falls on our Hunters boat that both gave me quite a jolt. I think they happened because I was so tired. Take care of yourself!

Amazing photos Malcolm. Brilliant wildlife shots, but I agree with others that the Cantley shot is weirdly evocative. I suppose that’s because I’ve never seen it from that angle.

I remember that too. Weren’t there one or two of our forum members who got their holidays cancelled out of the blue? I also seem to recall that Richardson’s gave the reason that it was about insurance, but if that’s the case how come other yards still allow solo helming?

We did buy one from IKEA but left it on board Moonlight Shadow when it was difficult to source gas.

Won’t Richardson’s need to uphold the original booking terms? It would be very unfair if they didn’t.

You lot have something to answer for…worse than adverts. Yes, I’ve succumbed and bought a Ninja multi cooker. Ninja, Amazon and John Lewis were all out of stock, so I got mine from AO for the same price, an eye watering £199. However, I can already see it’s going to cut down of the fuel bills. Tried some air fried frozen chips yesterday lunchtime. Half the time that they would take in the oven and 100% better. Yesterday evening, we had some peri peri chicken thighs…again half the time compared to oven roasting and so much better. This evening I tried out the pressure cooker option. A pumpkin and sweetcorn Thai curry, which was over cooked (too soft). I think 10 minutes with auto decompression would have been enough instead of 20 minutes. I have plans to try out roasting a whole chicken tomorrow.

Hmm…Bramble and Purdey are slightly different prospects as far as sitting on owners lap goes. I can just about cope with Seren. Pozzick…no way.
