  1. Popped up Friday evening for a couple of nights, arrived at Wroxham (Well Hove actually) at 21:00 by the time we had loaded Cerise Lady it was already 21:30 so Wroxham Hotel, and Kings Arms had already finished serving food so Kens fish and chips were eaten on the staithe before a swift couple of Ghostships and an early night . waking to rain on Saturday and up by 07:00 general cleaning , mug of coffee and it was time to wander into town to collect our spare keys from NBS (had problem with Pilot alarm that needed sorting under warranty), guilty pleasure of a couple of bacon and egg McMuffins then a journey by road to collect new fenders from Boulters (old knackered ones now used at home mooring for added protection) skys now clearing and warm sunshine cheering our day , we decided on a slow cruise via a poodle round Salhouse and Malthouse broads to our intended overnight at Womack Water , rivers fairly quiet except the usual crowding at Ranworth Staithe , and Thurne dyke indicating Rick doing well at his new venture we arrived at a surprisingly quiet Womack staithe , there were only six boats moored, we actually passed more boats moored on the dyke. safely moored , Kate having to stretch her far too short legs to reach the step used to enable stern mooring until we decide whether or not to remove the bathing platform , we were settled in by 12:45 and intending to watch the world go by and relax . Met Buffalo Bill and his good lady and watched the usual comings and goings at Womack far too many (mainly HW boats) arriving at full pelt before deciding to move on (as they can't physically see a pub I assume) before the heading gradually filled up by 17:00 . Spotted the beautiful Nipper arriving looking magnificent , what a stunning lady !! our evening was spent in the Kings Arms , always one of our favourites, where Kate and I had an excellent 8oz rump @£12.95 My only winge being why do pubs insist on serving food on a wooden board ? What is wrong with a nice clean round plate!!!! ? there was a birthday in the pub which meant that they had live music , big plus for us and if you see the band Black Dragon advertised they are very good they cover rock from the 60's to the modern day. 00:00 we wandered back to Cerise Lady and were soon in deep (in my case Ghost Ship assisted) sleep. Again up and awake by 0600 , why can I get up with ease on a boat but yet at home have to be dragged from my pit?, we sat and marvelled at our vista read the papers we had on board and supped our early morning hot drinks. after a visit to Throwers we departed at 08:30 ,target Ranworth for lunch then Hoveton our home mooring before the short (90 mins) drive home . arriving at Ranworth at 11:00 there were 4 or 5 spaces and we chose one on the side dyke and safely moored , Kate again stretching those little legs of hers. relaxing on the green I noticed the sailing yacht that had been occupying the stern/side mooring at the end moving off so quickly hopped aboard , untied and poodled in to the space so as to allow side on access, all the while Kate was wondering why I was leaving whilst she was still ashore. A stroll to the floating nature centre and was soon time for lunch , just a half of Humpty Dumpty as would be driving later. departing a full Ranworth at 15:30 we made our way home , river a bit busier with day boats buzzing around like wasps and just as annoying , undertaking at max throttle then changing direction and steaming full ahead on the wrong side of the river . Swan corner in Horning ,the usual Sunday suicidal Topper sailies seeing how close they can get before either your or their nerve gives, an uneventful cruise back to Brimbelow road , cleaned and put Cerise Lady to bed till next weekends visit . all in all a fantastic weekend , wonderful weather and people , sadly no pics this time I left my phone in the car , sorry.
  2. Thank you , couldn't find them on their online site but guess they don't list all their offerings
  3. Seeking stand or plinth for an 18gk mudweight , does any one either have one for sale or know who stocks them please ?
  4. Have hired twice in the last five years with Brooms , as they knew we had been hiring for 20+ years the handover was at the best minimal . our friends had their first ever hire last year on a Broom Captain and Mike is the type that asks numerous questions often ones that the answer is tbh obvious, he was on the river 30mins after arriving at the boat yard so I would presume the handover is not comprehensive editted to add that kate and I were shown the dash controls for the mudweight (according to Kate and she NEVER forgets )
  5. Depending on how competent you feel your abilities are many driving schools (and indépendants) offer a teach till pass package where you pay a one off fee up front and that entitles you to how ever many lessons you require till you pass (you do pay on top for your exam or exams though) . both my boys went this route , the elder passed 2nd time after 18 lessons the younger 4th time after many more so was definitely the best route for him .
  6. Thank you for your prompt reply Ruck
  7. Rick , may I ask if the showers have been refurbished or have they been removed please?
  8. I know , the police are certainly getting quicker with their response times
  9. Prices never look cheap , but they do look good value !!!!!! better to be busy and make a bit than to charge more and have an empty bar
  10. Thank you for your totally honest answer . i think a lot of people forget just how much vat content there is on food as the raw ingredients are not liable . in Cambridge the average Gourmet style burger is £9 + i had a burger in The White Horse last week and it was excellent . my wife had the sausage mash and root veg (yes even in 26c) she couldn't resist and I think she will insist on a stop off at Gays Staithe every week
  11. Thank you all for your advice , have ordered the above , thank you deebee29
  12. seeking recommendations please of suitable alarms for a boat . There are so many on EBay (other sites are available) that I have no idea of their suitability for a boating environment
  13. If it's half as good as the White Horse last week you're in for a treat
  14. Saw Hoveton moored up at Ranworth last week , believe she is one of Faircraft Loynes former Sheerline 850 centre cockpit boats
  15. Met an owner of one of Marthams old Judith boats whilst at Gays Staithe on Saturday ,absolutely immaculate , he told me she was originally built in 1948
  16. Think we saw you moored up during our all too brief stop in Salhouse , was the busiest I've seen it in 25 years + of visiting , lovely to see so many children enjoying the warm waters
  17. Provided local suppliers sell what we are seeking Kate and I always try and use them , sadly many local shops (not just on The Broads) keep a very limited stock. ten or so years ago we popped into the shop (since gone) at Upton and it was like stepping in to the The Cheese Shop of Monty Python fame Milk , no call for it new Tesco sells it , bread , paper tea bags etc etc same answer , we weren't really looking for a birthday card or good housekeeping magazine (last months) . sadly no shopping done or monies in their till
  18. Was a voyage of discovery . Discovering Kate's legs are too short for egress via the bathing platform , any window frame or screw head is positioned exactly in the right place to scrape your legs every pass you make , twin Merc engines are very economical , twelve and a half hours of cruising equated to £36 of diesel (must mention big thumbs up to boulters , fantastic service) . home now , burnt to b@*€#ry mustn't be too proud to use sun cream and accept that even though I look like a pratt in a hat its better than a peeling nose and forehead. returning next week will post pics
