  1. It was probably the coypu in charge. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  2. I would need to check that with Schrodinger's cat, but I suspect you're right. It's going to be tight under Potter. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk

  6. Oh no, upgrading to the Infinite Improbability Drive. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  7. Absolutely - what else could have caused the Medieval Warming Period? After that it was only electric vehicles (charged up from peat-fired power stations) that got us out of the Little Ice Age of Charles Dickens' time (read his diary) when the Thames froze over and Polar Bears magically appeared on the Arctic ice floes. Most interestingly, CO2 was historically 10s of times greater than before we had diesel lorries and heavy industry. How did they remove it, and where has it gone? Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  8. Conifers are very bad for your chimney. Especially when they haven't been burned yet. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  9. I have a disturbing vision of Sheila drifting around the marina while Robin stands on the hard with his remote control. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  10. Why didn't I guess that? Cool gizmo! Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  11. FGS here we go again. A perfectly innocuous and informative chatty message from Robin in his inimitable friendly style gets picked on and torn apart by one or more particular individuals bringing this thread once again to a grinding halt. On average this has happened every three days since I joined this forum. These critical and accusatory comments are unnecessary and entirely uncalled for. Please, if you don't have something pleasant or constructive to contribute keep it to yourself. This must be one of the longest and most interesting threads on the forum with a huge following, but I suspect it may not continue too much longer if certain individuals insist on having the last word on every subject. I totally support Robin's point that his blog is offered as a social commentary not to invite micro deconstruction. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk

    My Day

Our garden thermometer says -10C, but the chaps suction dredging Hickling staithe broke the ice and have been out for hours paddling around the dredger in their little attendant punt. They seem to work every daylight hour regardless of the weather - respect!
  13. Can we look forward to custom Morse control knobs on sale? Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  14. Seems to me this is discriminating against one parent families. What next, refusing couples where one partner is in some way handicapped, and what would be the dividing line? Does arthritis count against you? As ever, Common Sense is the victim here. Maybe restrict solo handling to a selection of smaller, more easily manageable boats for those with demonstrable experience. And no, any kind of shared database is just not feasible due to privacy, data protection laws and Russian hackers.

  17. I am puzzled by the fact that barely a mile from Hickling Broad is a carp pond with daily tickets. Apart that the fact that to me that's a bit like like shaking apples from a tree, why would anyone choose that over fishing from the broad or local rivers? Is it a problem of access to prepared and maintained sites away from moorings which might be provided by daily fees over and above the national license?
  18. Moderators do not moderate opinions, only the way in which they are expressed. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk

  20. The Council would not want the additional costs of maintaining the land. If it can be made common land there are a whole different range of historical laws and protections which would apply. Many communities do this to prevent unwanted housing and wind farm developments.
  21. It's incredibly difficult to get change of use away from agricultural to amenity land - unless it suits the Council's own interests of course. If it were me I might look into turning it into common or community land.
  22. There is no need to seek full NP status. Just like the EU changes are made gradually and surreptitiously not by making or changing any laws but by regulations devised and enacted by an unelected and unaccountable quango quoting non-verifiable "scientific studies" by unnamed "leading experts", to the point where there is no discernible difference to a change in the law.
  23. We'll find out if it matters if the Broads wins the vote over the actual National Parks. How will all the other willing volunteers and selfless donors feel about being beaten by an organisation which is not legally a NP? Yet another gaffe by the incredibly biased, Green Party governed and EU sponsored BBC. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
