You didnt see the skinny ostrich then?

When I came across the videos it prompted me to remember fantastic childhood holidays and a few when i was older and they were the reason why we ended up buying a boat. So its all Robinās fault!

I guess the towing of a car depends on the size of the motorhome on whether its worth it or not. Ive been watching the Bob Earnshaw vlogs. They have been on the Isle of Wight which looks, so far in this series, to be difficult to get to places other than in a small car. I think if we get serious about a change from water to wheels that we need to hire one and not just launch into this!

Thank you. It maybe for us in the future. Iām really keen to explore other areas of the UK, especially Scotland. The issue we both have is the thought of dealing with cassette toilets š¤¢and problems finding parking spaces for a motor home when on day trips off the camp site. Ive seen little cars being towed behind motorhomes which seems the ideal. I know a caravan is completely out of the question for Graham.

Iām curious as to costs of running a motorhome annually including fuel and pitch fees compared to owning a boat. Iām quite keen on the idea but Graham isnt.

How And ,why And When Did You First Visit The Broads
Lulu replied to Chelsea14Ian's topic in Broads Chat
Dad had been on boating holidays since the 40s I believe with his parents. In 1969 when I was three months old I was plonked on board and apparently bathed in the sink. Dad hired Bermudas and Caribbeans while I was a tot before eventually hiring Connoisseurs. It was the annual holiday with my parents and brother until my brother and I left home when I was in my early 20s. Quite a few years went by then my ex and I hired a Connoisseur when the kids were about 8 and 11 years old in the mid 2000ās. Another long gap and then in 2017 I had been watching the Captains Blogs which got me all enthusiastic about the Broads and said to Graham we should get a boat. The most spontaneous decision Iāve ever had. We ended up getting the wrong boat to start off with, bought a different one, still wrong and finally got Luna and became founding members of the Three Boats in a Year Club. Best thing we ever did. The photo must be from 1970, little me and mum. My favourite place was the ābeachā at Salhouse. I was only thinking the other day and got very nostalgic really missing the family holidays. Sadly mum and dad are just not able enough to even join us on a hire boat and we do all the work.- 66 replies

The Fitzwilliam Museum is well worth a visit. Even though I have lived near Cambridge for most of my life, Iāve never been punting. My son had a great time when he went. Another lovely place to sit and relax and have good food is the Orchard Tea Garden in Granchester. I go there quite often with a friend in the summer sitting in deck chairs in the orchard eating cake :) . https://www.theorchardteagarden.co.uk Hope all goes ok this afternoon.

I canāt see the situation at Ranworth changing now. People are still mooring there, money is coming in. Personally, we have rarely gone there due to not liking stern mooring so at the moment doesnāt affect our plans. I see they are advertising for a Visitor Services Officer: https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/careers/current-vacancies/visitor-services-officer-liana-trip-boat-skipper2 Iām just waiting for all the BA free moorings near pubs and other facilities to go the same way, Acle, Stokesby, How Hill, Ludham, Potterā¦

You could go to Russell Marine. We used them the other week for the first time for pump out and fuel and will definitely use them again.

Exactly why we went for it some years ago. Our plan was always, āwhen we retireā but after a serious health issue for me and a couple of friends dying so young we realised we needed to live for the day a bit more. We would love a more modern, bigger boat but thatās out of our range at the moment but we are so extremely thankful that we have what we have now. Our bank account could be a lot healthier without the boat costs obviously but at least we are enjoying ourselves and always have something to look forward to (even the imminent maintenance weekend). Enjoy your new addition to the family Biker :)

Is the building behind the first one, the structure that is still there?
