  1. You will likely need BA or EA permission to do any digging in the river. 4 ton is not that much for a boat, especially an older one as the grp is probably quite thick.
  2. Arrrgghh! I hate seeing pubs so empty. I'll be back at the ferryhouse next weekend as long as the tiers stay the same.
  3. In the right hands I think leccy scooters are a great idea, in the hands of a dickhead they are a bloody menace.
  4. I would imagine the same as pedal bikes as they are not licenced, illegal to be drunk in charge but not something that will get you a ban, most coppers would just shake their heads at you. (much like drunk in charge of a boat) Disclaimer: Just guessing, not a hint of legal training.
  5. Remember to dismount first though.
  6. Only if you get caught.....
  7. A bike is always a good thing to have, in my local town no pub is more than 10 minutes away on a bike and the furthest pubs apart are only 15 minutes apart, you can tell the taxi's are a waste of space here.(£5 just to put your bum on the seat and goes up after midnight, if they bother to turn up) My best record is 7 in one night, 7 falling off incidents that is........ It'd been a long day and lots of pubs.

    Christmas?!

Well that's my Christmas shopping done and dusted, and Adnams should be delivering by next wednesday, sod the Christmas markets and sales....... WELCOME15 is working for a 15% discount BTW, and free delivery over £20 till midnight friday, what's not to like.
  9. Daily checks are a hireboat thing, when it's your own boat you know when something is wrong, especially when the bilge is not running with oily water.
  10. That depends on if the gearbox has an oil cooler, on my volvos the raw water goes through gearbox cooler then oil cooler then coolant heat exchanger then out through the exhaust so a couple of chances to mix with oil. Edit: I see the mention of daily checks, does anyone actually do that on a private boat? I check mine every so often at best on the rivers and only regularly before a sea trip, no-one checks there car every day and they probably go further and rev it harder than most river boats.

    Christmas?!

Just for you! That is actually Ian, he's let himself go a bit........
  13. You can change valve stem seals without removing the head as long as you do them with each piston at tdc (do two then turn engine by 180 degs), just need a spring compressor that can hook on rocker studs, I did make one but gave it away after using on my old BMC 2.52's.
  14. The owner and owner of beauchamps and the eyesore in loddon, that puts me off trying it.
  15. On the voltage thing MM with all that extra window area a karcher window vac is great on condensation and if you get a cheapy charger off fleabay and cut the end off and graft a usb plug on they charge a treat from a usb adaptor, they just don't like to be inverted on my steep screen as the water goes through the motor, a careful wrist flick stops that.
  16. It would be ok through a voltage regulator/stabiliser but automotive electrical systems are not 12v, they are typically 11-15v with the odd surge above and the odd dip below depending on wiring layout and demand, on my old boat the tv would cut off when the water pump kicked in, over volts is prone to killing modern tv backlight too. My tv came with 12v cigar lighter adaptor so I'm assuming it has some voltage stabilising built in, if it's only designed to run on it's own mains adaptor the stabilising will likely be in the adaptor itself.
  17. My thoughts exactly, my local when we were allowed. There's always one....... And it may have been me.
  18. Clearly nobody has explained the difference between herd immunity and herd moronity!
  19. I leave mine shut to keep prying eyes and sunlight out.
  20. The soup at the ferryhouse is highly recommended, mind you I've never yet found an un-substantial meal in there. You can still go into a pub for tea/coffee/soft drinks without a meal.
  21. I think they all have standard vesa mountings now(although I think there are a couple of sizes), that's where my ssd is attached on mine. I know what you mean about vertical plane, the older tv I have at home in the bedroom is bad for that, with the boat tv I don't find vertical an issue, it normally sits level on the hatch and we slob out looking up at it and don't have a problem.
  22. I have 24" sharp smart TV that runs off 12v, add a usb/sata lead and a SSD and you get a huge recording capacity as well for when there's no signal. I believe the cello is the same as the ferguson offering, I looked at them but found a few disappointed reviews on them so went for the sharp, I'm happy with it and has good viewing angles that makes mounting options more forgiving. No help to your mounting issue but thought it may be useful.
  23. I have an old 4.5kg bottle, let me know when they're up to £30.....
  24. More of a woody fan than a buzz fan then, that must save a fortune in batteries...... Maybe time to shut up............ It's a toy story thing honestly.
  25. Are they still on direct discharge then? Explains the overuse of garlic, gotta cover it up somehow.....
