  1. That's one toy I've never used, oxy/acetylene,arc.mig,tig no problems but never played with a plasma cutter. If you only have a small gas axe and need to cut a chunky plate of steel a good trick is to weld a small blob where you want to start and get it going there, once the cut has started it will carry on through the thick stuff fine. I have a good collection of grinders of all sizes though and a chainsaw.
  2. And during summer you can watch peregrine's going about their business, there's a nesting ledge on the end silo, a good scope will spot chicks from the pub frontage.
  3. Food is huge and good. Bar don't shut early.
  4. Reedcutter now has leccy posts up and running outside the pub, cards are pubs own not BA and £1 or £5 can be had. In for grub tonight.
  5. I don't need masses of fancy gear as I can step out of my front door and see where I work and have the key, an added benefit is access to a transporter van when required without the expense. But one very useful gadget in my shed is a hydraulic motorcycle bench which makes life much easier doing the low jobs that I can't get back up from without making lots of noises.
  6. Sorry to hear this, my thoughts were the same as Grendel's.
  7. I have a sneaking suspicion but have no intention of mentioning it on a forum, pm, or otherwise, it simply aint my business it's someone elses personal issues. Good luck to the person, I hope they get the help they clearly need, and well done to all involved.
  8. Garage contents are compressor, XT600E, TDM850 Mk2a, and the rarest of the collection, wait for it.... A 4.5KG butane bottle, full no less! And loads of jerry cans due to boat ownership.
  9. I thought quite ironic that it was a search dog, glad it's safe and sound.
  10. An assortment of big hammers, if that don't fix it then it's an electrical fault.
  11. But would an electric bike get you going Griff without all the engine noise and traction issues? I can't imagine that ever being as much fun as a proper one. I assume the tesla has to make a noise at low speed to keep pedestrians on their toes, spokey dokeys?
  12. Usually the ones that drive zigzag everywhere and the young kids do fine as they are not expecting it to behave like a car.
  13. Those rudder indicators look well over priced for a few bits of plastic but they do work well as long as the wheel is centred when you put it on. The internals are just as plastic except for the weight, I picked one up years ago that was part in bits in the pack for £5 so I took a chance, was a good bit of kit. On my next boat I heatshrinked a few strong magnets to the helm end of the steering cable and placed 5 reedswitches along the covering shroud and hooked up to some leds set into the bezel, two reds, yellow for centre, two greens, that worked well for less than a tenner, later rigged a dimmer for another fiver for night cruising. That engine will do better if took down to breydon now and again and given a leg stretching or out to sea, make sure you have plenty of fuel though, you'll need it.
  14. Bear in mind that all the vids from a hire company will be on boats with single fixed shaft and rudder, they handle quite different to outdrives. Is the maxum single or twin engine?
  15. As Grendel says steer a bit and wait to see what happens, steer till it reacts and you will zigzag constantly as you try to correct it.
  16. I used to do them for Basil Brush but it was tricky to find things that end with "Boom Boom". So these two suicide bombers walk into a bar....
  17. Was the ranger with the face mask on his own? Must have been the lone ranger...
  18. Which one were you Vaughan?
  19. I'm guessing that maxum is on an outdrive so you will have some steering in reverse just not as effective as steering forward, stern on mooring isn't always doable with an outdrive if it sticks out.
  20. But now you've given the idea....
  21. I've never found keys that hard to use but would find needing to hide one away in a rf proof box a right pita, think we'll stick to the battered old skoda and not have to worry. Seems to be yet another gimmick that makes things worse, I thought it was only Microsoft that did that. Almost as daft as the front running lights on modern cars that leaves lots of people driving around with no tail lights because they think the lights are on.
  22. Don't grind my gears Grendel, I'll go into overdrive. (not bachman turner)
  23. You will need to know sender resistance range, US & EU senders are different.
  24. Along the lines of "keyboard error-press F1 to continue"...
